    This happened to us too. Out of nowhere they started sending worthless jokes and charging bogus fees to our account. I called Verizon and they didn’t care — said we must have signed up for it without realizing. Verizon refused to credit the charges. This outfit is a scam and I can’t BELIEVE they are allowed to continue operations.

However, the deal was to receive the 500 free, prior to being invoiced for the $9.99 monthly charge, as a trial offer. I did not receive the full 500 nor anything like this before they charged me, around $9.99 a quarter, not a month. So, I tried to send the text to STOP these and got a return message that I am not a subcriber to “funmobile daily jokes”.

    One evening i just decided to look for ring tones, its so long ago now that i can barely remember what i did but i think it was sending them my number for free ringtones. They kept sending me messages saying i could get more and more tones. Today i got a message saying i was subscribed to funmobile polytones club for 4.5 euro a week. I rang them and its in a foreign language. Has anyone any suggestions how i cancel, when i log onto the website and enter my number it says i dont have a valid number.

Only today did I realze I was being charged $4.99 a month. I just texted stop and received a text saying I would get no more. I guess these sites get you even when your looking for the BS.

    Children are given cell phones and it’s the parents responsibilty if they sign up.
    You can’t be charged for those services if you only use your phone for it’s main purpose.

    I received an IM from a friend that told me to check out a video on YouTube. I get there, and there is a message that says the video may be for a mature audience, and that they verify age via cell phone #. They asked for my number and cell carrier. They then text me a pin #, which i was supposed to input into the YouTube-looking site. After I do that, nothing happens. A minute later i get a text message saying thanks for subscribing to mobilefunster for 9.95 a month. I just sent them an email to see if they will reverse the initial charges. if they do not, i will take it up with my carrier.

    Hey Alan – i emailed the care@ email address listed in the text messages and had a fe exchanges with a guy named Alex Phoon, who at first refused to refund me the initial 9.95 charged and then finally agreed to via paypal or check. So hopefully that will all come through as promised. in the meantime i will still be reporting these hucksters to the online BBB: http://www.bbb.org/online/

    This is the kind of stuff that really sucks about the internet. A few really bad apples….

    Mobile funster is evil and duplicitous. They hacked into a friend’s IM account, spammed everyone on her buddy list telling them to enter their phone number into a youtube video. Then everyone who entered their number was fraudulently charged $9.99 on their phone bill. This company is criminal!

    this shit just happened to my grandmother. i called them, they claimed they were located in AUSTRALIA of all places, REFUSED to get me to a supervisor, because they do not give refunds, and FINALLY when i got a hold of a supervisor, he let me know that they DO in fact give refunds but he was not going to give me one because he didn’t want to and i should have called sooner when my grandma first signed up. i explained she never signed up for this and they said well obviously she did. i said well no, she didn’t and i want a full refund. i went back and forth with this fucking idiot for 45 minutes and he CLAIMS he will send her a check for the full amount. these bastards need to get the shit sued out of them and we all need to be HUGELY compensated!!!

I am calling Cingular tomorrow as it appears there is a recurring fee they are going to charge.     I got charged $9.99 today for a ringtone and wallpaper thing that I never signed up for. I called to have it cancled and the guy that I talked to said that he could not give me my money back and told me to use up all the ringtones and then text stop to 22643. I thought this might help some of you but you are right on here we should sue the damn place. This is bull SH*T. Where do they think they get off buy doing this?     I understand from AT&T that someone browsing online may be requested to answer a survey. If they enter your cellphone number and you will be charged. You must call your provider and tell them to cancel, block and then refund the charges.

    I use Sprint and this charge showed up on my wife’s cell phone bill. Luckily Sprint was quick to refund the money and block the service from starting again on that or any other line on my plan. It really pissed me off that this company was able to start sending me a bill even though we never agreed (or in this case even knew about) anything.

    When I talked the Sprint representative I asked if there was a way to block this from happening again and she told me that if I do that then the only place I can get ringtones from is the Sprint web-page which is fine with me. If you don’t mind being restricted to the Spring store for your ringtones this can be a good way to have peace of mind that shady companies wont be sending you unexpected bills.

    I suddenly received my AT&T cell phone bill and it had a $19.99 charge for Mobile Funster.com.
    I contacteded At&T to find out what this was for and they told me that I have suscribed to this account. I notified them that I had not done this and that it was never authorized by me. It was illegally placed on my phone and I wanted it stopped immediately. I was instructed to contact the company directly to cancel this program, which I did. AT&T told me that since they had all ready paid the amount to Mobile Funster that I would have to receive a refund from them but AT&T could not give me a refund. When I contacted Mobile Funster I was told that they could cancel the subscription but any refund would have to came from AT&T. Does this sound like a run around to you? Are these two companies in this together to cheat the general public out of money for bogus “authorizations”? I think so. Neither company wants to take any responsibility for their illegal actions and neither is willing to give any type of refund. Is this a set up and a little under the table money dealing? Sure sounds like that to me. I suggest that we all get on the internet and spread the word about this crooked company and it’s underhanded dealings. The only way to stop this type of crooked business is to do just that – PUT THEM OUT OF BUSINESS! Join in the fight to stop companies like these!

    same thing happened to us! $19.99 charged to our AT&T phone bill. Was able to cancel online. Although we were charged a pro-rated amount. It is a subscription charge, so we would continue to be scammed every month unless we noticed it. Not sure how they did it. Makes me nervous about our phone number posted out there. Think i am going to have all my phone calls filtered thru Google Voice first. Don’t know if that will help much, but would limit the number of times my cell phone number is posted on job sites, etc.

    I did one of those online surveys. There were several spots where you had to have a pin number sent to your phone and entered in the survey to continue in the end I found that I had “subscribed” to two ringtone services, playphone and ringtonehot.com. I put subscribed in quotes as I stupidly did not read all of the fine print when I entered my phone. I did want such services and cancelled immediately. Unfortunately, I will be billed 37 dollars for my mistake. If you are tempted to answer an online survey DO NOT DO IT!! It will cost you in the end!!

    I have AT&T and a $20.99 charge from “mobilefunster” as well as another monthly charge from another similar scam showed up on my bill. I called AT&T and they refunded both subscription charges, no questions asked. The woman I spoke to said it happened to her on her previous month’s bill, and she even knows better because she works for AT&T! So they got her too… She told me it is very, very easy these days to enter your phone number somewhere online that seems legitimate but ends up subscribing you to these txtmsg scams, and warned me to take extra caution in the future.

I hope that Mobilefunsterinc.com really does cancel the subscription since they are txtmsg scammers.It’s hard to trust a company like that. My phone bill is outrageous now and this is the 2nd time I have been billed for a txtmsg scam. AT&T were great about removing the 1st charges but I am not so sure that they will a second time. This company should reimburse AT&T and myself for these bogus charges. I will be more careful in the future and make sure my family is as well.

    what a scam. i got my US Cellualr phone bill & this palce charged me 3 different times for something we did not sign up for, got us for $27.00 in one month. I went US Cellular to have them explain what the charges were for, & got “its third party billing & we can not credit you” ” you have to call the number listed on the bill to find out what/why the charges & ask them for a refund. The repreentative that spoke to me was rude & told me someone subscribe for it, which I know is a lie. They finally said they would cancel it, but not before arguing with me & threating me that they would hang up on me. I was polite but up set that they would not refund me the money or give me any information about the charges. They told me they cancelled me, but I worry woth all that I have read, it appears this may not happen. I am going to contact US Cellular customer service & let them know I was told that the subscription(s) had been cancelled i am not authorizing any subscription to third parties & if they pay any & charge me for it, I will take action against both companies. BBB should be notified about this scam & be stopped immediatewly. Makes you not want to have cell phones, let alone trust the cell phone companies if they are going to let these kind of things continue with all the complaints from customers I amsure they get.

    These people are thieves, but the sad thing is that AT&T allows this to happen on their cellphones. Just had a serious talk with AT&T about it and they said they would reverse the charges. If I have to call every month, I will just get a new number for a $36 fee. If it happens again after that, I will stop using AT&T. They should not condone theft on their cellphones. They have an obligation to stop this.

    Certain text messages that are received and opened are charged to subscriber, unknowingly even if they are opened and you don`t reply to stop you will be charged or automatically signed up for services through your cell phone provider. It is all bull because At&t is allowing third parties to send text messages to customer`s phones, that if not relied to can have you paying higher cell phone bills, like me i have been w/at&t for 4yrs and their billing is the worst yet.

    This is definitely a scam and we’re on the phone with them right now. They are claiming someone entered our telephone number at ringtone.com online and they sent a password to our cell which was not responded to by a certain time. You need to contact your cell provider, ours is Sprint and they can put a block from this company calling/texting your cell. Unforatunately your carrier can not reimburse you

    The real problem is that the mobile carriers allow unauthorized access to our accounts. They should all be required to reimburse these charges; fraudsters like this should have no means of gaining access to mobile phone accounts without express permission in writing by the subscriber. This outfit is still raking it in, years after we were defrauded (just like everybody else on this board). They are scraping mobile phone numbers from other sources and then stealing money from the victims’ accounts. I can’t BELIEVE that the carriers allow this to continue, and that the Attorney General hasn’t already crushed them.

It should be considered a violation of federal privacy laws for mobile carriers to grant access to a mobile account without express, written consent from the subscriber.     Found a job post about a Dental Assistant. Got a reply about the job in 7 hours later.. Sounded a little to positive but asked if I take an IQ quiz and print the results to bring to the office when I schedule an interview through email. I take the quiz and it asks for my phone number. Nothing was said about being charged until you agree to the terms and conditions. So I enter my phone number thinking I will get the results and get an interview! Unfortunately, when you give your phone number, it already has you signed up I believe.. However I sent Stop to the appropriate AT&T reference number and looked for a website that proved this was a scam. I found THIS SITE and CALLED AT&T and REPORTED the Scam.. The rep told me that my account would be safe from any unauthorized charges.

    I received my AT&T cell phone bill yesterday and there was a charge on 8/7/2010 for $19.99 from Funmobile that I never authorized. I called AT&T and they reversed it, as well as a second charge that they could see charged on 9/7, that will show up on my next bill. I’ve now added a purchase blocker to my cell phone account, so that this cannot happen again. I have to enter a secret pin number before anyone can charge anything to my cell phone. I recommend everyone check with their cell carriers. How can companies like Funmobile get away with this? Isn’t it illegal?

    Had the same problem on one of the cells on our family plan. Called my provider (Sprint). They refunded the charges and put a block on our plan. Nothing can be charged anymore. My tip is to deal with our provider and put a block on your contract.

    We were charged $9.99 this month and my husband swears he did nothing to incur this charge. We called Verizon and they will not help us get the charge off our bill, but did provide us a number of where to send a text. We were told to text STOP to 22643, we did receive a response back that we would no longer be charged.

    Such a scam, I am almost as mad at Verizon for allowing this to happen in their network as I am at the company that made the charge. You know Verizon must be getting a piece of this, surprised that customer satisfaction is not more important to them.

    My mother had this charged to her phone this month and I can tell you that she most definitely did not agree to this and actually has a text proving she wanted them to stop (on the same day she got the text from them). They still charged her anyway for $19.99!!!!

    Also, for those of you who were responding to a job ad and took the IQ test…its ILLEGAL for a company to require an IQ test unless they can prove without a doubt that is required for the job (like a physicist or something). So please don’t take an IQ test unless the company can prove its necessary.

She then put her “supervisor” named Shaun on the phone who said they would refund only one of the charges after much insistence on my part. I told him I wanted a full refund and he refused.     I suddenly received my AT&T cell phone bill and it had a $19.99 charge for Mobile Funster.com.
    I contacteded At&T to find out what this was for and they told me that I have suscribed to this account. I notified them that I had not done this and that it was never authorized by me. It was illegally placed on my phone and I wanted it stopped immediately. I was instructed to go to http://www.att.com/db and request a pin, this let me onto a page that allowed me to request a refund for the charge. then i had a blocker put on my phone so that i would be notified if this happened again. If i add any apps are game to my phone it ask for my pin. I hope this works.

    Sent STOP to short code and received msg I’d no longer get billed but these people are thieves. Avoid and watch out for bad mechanical turk tasks!
