Jokemobi.com | Jokemobi: 90900
A Metroblogging Los Angeles California blogger shares her story and asks “Class Action Lawsuit?”
“So I’m sitting here at my desk and my phone plays its “you have a text message” tune. Three times. Not being a teenaged girl, you might imagine the number of text messages I get is pretty low, so this is unusual. I look at the messages, and they are all from 90900, the Joke of the Day mobile phone service (jokemobi.com).”
“The first message gives me the PIN I will need to start the service, and the next two messages are a second invitation and the first joke.”
“I NEVER ASKED TO GET THIS and I din’t reply with the PIN number to start the service, but just to be safe I call AT&T and what do you know, WITHOUT MY PERMISSION they have enrolled me in this and already charged me $9.99.”
The L.A. blogger says she’d “love to know how many other people here have had this happen, and if any lawyers are interested in making these guys stop. I’m thinking class action lawsuits probably work that way.”
“It’s not just them sending unsolicited invitations (which suck because I’m charged for text messages) – what totally freaks me out that they just signed me up and started charging me without my permission.”
“How many people are being charged by them (and maybe others like them) without their knowledge???”

Yes !! This is exactly what happened to me too.
September 23rd, 2007 at 6:27 am
same thing happened to me yesterday! i am furrious!!!
September 27th, 2007 at 5:50 pm
I just called Sprint. They were able to block all future messages but said they can’t erase the charges (almost $20!) because they come from a different company. Evidently my phone somehow “automatically” responded to the initial solicitation even though I have never sent a text message in my life and haven’t a clue how to do so. I’m going to try to go after MQ Keplar or whatever the company is called.
September 27th, 2007 at 9:02 pm
I had the same text 3 messages sent to me last week…and just like you, I’m stuck with the charges. I went the the jokemobi.com website and there’s no phone number anywhere to be found. I would love to see them have to reimburse every penny they charged for this service. It’s just ridiculous.
September 30th, 2007 at 12:59 am
I received the same Joke of the Day message on 8/26/07 while I was OVERSEAS! I’m a Verizon Wireless 310 customer. Same deal, got the msg to reply with PIN to start service, never did, but go the stuff anyways from them and $9.99 on this month’s bill. Verizon very professional, took all of my data charges off for this past month. Somebody find a way to stick it to them.
September 30th, 2007 at 5:04 am
I just called my cell phone provider and told them that I am receving this stupid text message from 90090 their joke of the day and I have never ordered it & how can I stop them text msg to me. My provider said they just started to bill me for $9.95 per month & I am furious!! How can we put this company out of business? It is outrageous to me that this company can rid off consumers so easily without us even knowing!!
October 4th, 2007 at 8:51 pm
Ditto here. Jokemobi just made my Fair Game list.
October 6th, 2007 at 10:47 pm
The same thing happened to me
October 7th, 2007 at 7:42 pm
Started receiving unsolicited jokes of the day 4 days ago. Today I even received a DUPLICATE text message as I was steaming about the current unfunny offering I didn’t ask for. I’m feeling pressure to respond with a ‘STOP’ text but I’m leery of responding to spam of any kind… so I haven’t texted back “STOP” as instructed in the original email. I will join any class action… if legal, it shouldn’t be.
HERE’S MY POINT:
JokeMobi started the day after I had a VERIZON WIRELESS 411 CONNECT number texted to my cell.
Next stop: Verizon. Second stop: FCC.
October 7th, 2007 at 8:04 pm
This happened to me. I called Sprint, although they wouldn’t refund because it is a third party payer, they blocked all future commercial messages and gave me an extra 60 minutes per month on my line. They also gave me the following number for jokemobi.com (800) 234-5178, and help@g8wave.com. That’s where I’m going next…
October 10th, 2007 at 11:16 pm
I just got off the phone with Virgin Mobile – David was terrific – did not really believe me at first, but said he would reverse the first $9.99 charge. This whole this is OUTRAGEOUS – if you go to the jokemobi website you can enter ANYONE’S phone number and they will be charged – but I am SURE that jokemobi is entering most if not all the cell numbers themselves!!
October 11th, 2007 at 12:44 am
same, add me to the list. Also was in Europe when these started showing up. Infuriating! ATT could not explain to me how they manage just to pass through a charge. I am also thinking class action!
October 11th, 2007 at 12:54 am
Verizon Wireless cell phone Co. I was charged $19.99 for 3 consecutive months! No contact # to contact these SCAM artists! Mad in MI
October 11th, 2007 at 2:32 pm
Stupid same crap happened to me too. This needs to stop!!
October 14th, 2007 at 7:03 am
I got the three messages 40 minuets ago. And the first says to enter the pin, second is the joke, and third appears is a welcome message. “Welcome to JokeMobi, daily alerts billed at $9.99 per month! To stop, reply STOP. Visit http://www.jokemobi.com for more into.” THIS IS A SCAM! DO NOT REPLY TO THE MESSAGE. I got a strange call from a guy who knew my name and had the right number. He was looking for a manager of apartments. It was too suspicious. North Los Angeles, Cali.
October 14th, 2007 at 11:55 pm
i replied to them with stop. I also wrote them an e-mail sayiny “i did not sign up for this, and i don’t want to get charged for this. I have already replied back to stop and i want it to stay that way. i do not want to see a bill for your services because i did not request them.” they replied back saying “We apologize for the misunderstanding.
Your cell number below will be removed from our service. Please allow 48 hours for the change to take effect.
Your cell account may have been charged our $9.99 monthly fee. If you reply to this email with a mailing address, we will send a refund.” i called cingular and told them that i didnt order it and they gave me a refund. I want to know what you meant by not replying to the text with stop. What will happen since i did reply?
October 21st, 2007 at 5:22 pm
I received the same three messages and have been apparently been billed. I will fight this with my carrier and credit card company. If there is a class action, include me.
October 21st, 2007 at 5:51 pm
sorry here is the link.

October 21st, 2007 at 6:30 pm
I got the messages three days ago. I don’t even like jokes! How can they charge me for something I didn’t even order. I share your frustrations. I hope that we can get these boys big time. Let me know what I can do.
October 23rd, 2007 at 3:30 am
I have same issue here… starting from yesterday and it really furrious me. I called AT&T and the lady told me to reply to the text message by entering “STOP”, all in capital cases, as that stupid jokemobi said in the 1st text message. Hopefully I wont receive it tomorrow and the nightmare is gone.
October 23rd, 2007 at 8:22 pm
Same here. Turned my phone off for a plane flight and forgot to turn it on unitl the next day…too late. Nailed. Verizon said tough luck. These people are true scum.
October 25th, 2007 at 8:32 pm
I got the same 3 messages, Sprint’s C/S are so bad, I called 5 times and got different answers but no solutions. It tooks me almost 2 hours. I also ask to block all commercial message(Sprint calls it Premium Message Service), the last C/S finally point me to Tech Support to block messages. Guess what, this tech guy helped me not only block other potential telemarket BS, but also remove the Damn jokemobi service and give reverse the 9.99 charge.
Suggestion, Sprint customer may try what I did, remember, you need not only reverse you current charge, but also totally remove the dam joke service from your cellphone provider’s system!
October 30th, 2007 at 10:47 pm
Just happened to me….I will call sprint tomorrow and see what they say. GRRRRRR. There should be SOMETHING we can do to fight them!!!
October 31st, 2007 at 6:05 am
Just got this text, called sprint they said to type unsubscibe, and that they didn’t see any charges yet. Guess this is the new cell scam everyone has to deal with.
November 3rd, 2007 at 9:24 pm
Thanks Bill! I received the 3 text messages today and I called Sprint and tech support was able to block them. Here’s Jokemobi’s info: 301-560-6643 – support@jokemobi.com – http://www.jokemobi.com
Anybody who calls Sprint just be sure to navigate to their “other issues” section of tech support.
November 7th, 2007 at 5:12 am
i never order the jokes so please stop sending messages thank you
November 10th, 2007 at 9:24 pm
i never order jokes of the day and i never want to pay 4 it so please stop sending jokes can you pease write back thank you
November 10th, 2007 at 9:26 pm
Same here. Did anyone consider to contact the media like KCAL 9? I think that is the most effective way to bring all people together and a quick way to put jokemobi out of business.
November 16th, 2007 at 9:58 pm

Got the message that I had been subscribed, immediately sent a STOP reply and thought that was the end of it. However, the $10 “premium text message” charge just showed up on my Verizon bill. Got of the phone with Verizon who immediately reversed the charge, but also told me that there is no way to block this kind of stuff. That sounds like the real joke here.
November 19th, 2007 at 5:33 pm
I’m been dealing with receiving these stupid jokes for about 2 weeks. I have Verizon and I will contact them to block receipt of these jokes!
November 21st, 2007 at 3:09 pm
If you get these call your phone company right away and tell them! AND reply STOP to the text. They will send you a confirmation text that you have unsubsribed.
I can’t believe how easy it is to register with just someone’s phone number. LAWYERS please do something!!!
November 26th, 2007 at 6:26 pm
This is crazy… what a waste of my time to have to call my wireless carrier and reverse this scam… I am livid…Just think of how much $$ the creators of jokemobi.com are making even if everyone stops the first month… 9.99 per scammed recipient … outrageous!!!
November 26th, 2007 at 10:24 pm
I was charged $9.99 + taxes for a daily joke I never ordered. I want to know who will stop these people.
November 29th, 2007 at 10:40 pm
I too am the victim of this scam, and Virgin Mobile is claiming helplessness. I sent them an email demanding to be blocked from third party services under threat of losing my business to another company. I have also filed complaints with ftc.com and classactionconnect.com, and sent 2 emails to jokemobi.com. I’d like to thank all the previous posters who have provided information on this. Let’s hope someone with real power is listening.
December 1st, 2007 at 8:56 pm
Same thing, called Verizon and they said they are working on a third party block. I guess we are lucky it’s not $99.99
December 1st, 2007 at 10:41 pm
This happened to me, too. I contacted Verizon. So far, I have just received a form letter from Verizon offering to reverse the $0.10 per message charge, but not the $9.99/month. I have written back to them asking for a direct answer re the $9.99 per month charge. I haven’t heard back, but I am not going to let this drop, either.
December 3rd, 2007 at 8:40 pm
To follow up re Jokemobi.com, I contacted Network Solutions, and I received just a very little information about this jokemobi.com guy. He purchased a “privacy service.” This means that Network Solutions can’t give out any information about this guy. The registrant address is actually just a Network Solutions P.O. Box. Network Solutions then send Jokemobi’s mail on to him. BUT, I did obtain the fax number for Network Solutions legal dept. You can send a cease and desist letter to Network Solution’s legal department. This is an important step to take. The fax number for Network Solutions Legal Department is: (707) 668-5959. Please write your letters and let Network Solutions know that they are helping a criminal commit his crimes.
December 3rd, 2007 at 8:49 pm
I need to edit the fax number! For Network Soultions, the fax number is (703) 668-5959. Sorry for the mistake in my earlier post.
December 3rd, 2007 at 8:50 pm
I am not sure when this 9.99 + tax will be charged, however, this is unsolicited jokes, please add my name to any legal action for this consumer abuse, and taking my peace of mind. I am in law enforcement and every call or ring from my phone is very significant.
December 4th, 2007 at 2:49 am
I got this same crap too. At first I thought it was a joke, but then the phone bill arrived 2 days ago.
I replied NO immediately after the second text.
I called Verizon today and they told me that they couldn’t do anything. Freaking ridiculous. So I canceled my text message privileges. There is no way I will sit quietly while people like Jokemobi can get away with this.

the more people that report it, the better.

Thank you all for sharing your experiences. The information was very helpful in dealing with my customer service rep at Sprint. As said in previous posts, there is no consistency in what Sprint’s c/s reps tell you, so if you don’t get what you want, hang up and call back until you do. I spoke to three different c/s reps before one reversed the $9.99 charge from jokemobi.com and blocked all further third party access to my account (which should be standard operating procedure in the first place!). be sure to ask (nicely) for your rep’s employee # and a reference # for documentation. they may not be forthcoming at first, but be politely persistent, because it paid off for me. the c/s rep may also put you on hold for a long time while they try to find contact information for jokemobi.com. tell them not to bother. jokemobi.com is a scam that is purposefully difficult to contact. Contacting them is a big waste of your time, and will confirm your contact information. good luck to the rest of you wrangling with your mobile services, and i hope your class action lawsuit brings down jokemobi.com and all other douche bag operations like it!
December 8th, 2007 at 8:17 pm
The same thing happened to me from 90900.
I contacted Verizon Wireless and they said I should reply with (unsubscribe, quit, stop, etc) and they will reverse the charges.
You would think the phone providers would just deny these guys access to their network already!!!
December 9th, 2007 at 10:21 pm
I experienced the very same thing. I was sent 3 text messages, which I deleted without reading, as I have done to all messages in the past, but this time I was subscribed and billed $10.09. Contacted Verizon by Internet and also Wireless telephone “support” and was told they can’t dredit my account. I even talked to a supervisor: same result. NOW, I’m pissed! My jokes also came from 90900. Jokemobi.com is of no help whatsoever….
December 13th, 2007 at 10:35 pm
Just yesterday, I received the same 3 text messages from jokemobi. As everyone else, I did not order this service. I called Verizon and was told there was nothing they could do. They said I should reply “STOP” and that would terminate the service. I explained that I never respond to unsolicited messages and that was not an option. This service rep said that I must of mistakenly ordered this service. I explained that I did not order this service intentionally, or mistakenly, nor did I fall on my phone and accidentally order this service. This is a corporate blackberry, and I am not dumb enough to jeopardize my career by ordering stupid jokes on a company owned phone.
Going by what others say, I guess I will try the “STOP” reply and once the bill comes, I’ll talk to Verizon again.
What should also be considered are fraud charges against any provider that refuses to reverse charges for any third party services that were not expressly approved by the account holder.
On the other hand, maybe we are in the wrong business. What you want to do is setup a fake company and send charges to cell providers and sit back while the money pours in. Cha-Ching. What’s good for the goose… right? (I am only kidding guys.) OK, now you see this pisses me so much, that I have gone nuts.
December 13th, 2007 at 11:59 pm
Just happened to me. Called Verizon and the service rep instructed me to send the ‘STOP’ reply, she stated that there were no charges yet on my account and that she would post some sort of follow-up notice on my account to make sure that no charges do get billed. I wonder if this will actually prevent jokemobi from posting the $9.99 charge?
Seems pretty clear jokemobi is involved in a fraudulent scheme. Someone needs to shut them down…
December 17th, 2007 at 10:26 pm
INVESTIGATIVE ACTION BY VERIZON WIRELESS? Still steaming after I finally entered STOP and then got a credit from Verizon Wireless, I wrote a letter (remember those?) to the CEO of Verizon Wireless. I had to find him first. Seems like the letter finally shook loose some investigative action; at least at the executive level they don’t immediately deny there is a problem, or state that they are powerless to fix it. I have so far received 3 calls from the head office, and they seem to agree that Jokemobi is flouting opt-in “rules.” As a side note, I was also told Verizon Wireless was working on what sounded like a utility which could block texting of ALL third party offers if so desired. Hey, I desire. So far, dealing w/ VW has been crisp and professional… we’ll see.
December 18th, 2007 at 5:37 pm
This is still ongoing for me but here is what I seem to have learned from this experience + the commonts on this page:
1. Call Verizon, they will offer to take one charge off the account once it appears. (Which is probably not enough)
2. Verizon will tell you to reply “STOP”. Don’t do this! Never reply to spammers. You will get new spam right away.
3. Escalate your issue with Verizon as high as possible. Eventually you will reach a manager who can do more to stop 90900… maybe block any charges before they happen.
4. Be politely persistent until they solve the problem for you. You never opted in for anything so you have no relationship with Jokemobile. Verizon is charging you the $9.99 so Verizon is the seller as far as you’re concerned. Remember their pledge on the hold music “Your problem will become our problem…”
December 29th, 2007 at 10:26 am
I just read Bert’s message because it happened to me today. I called Verizon and of course, they insisted that I must have signed up for it – which is ridiculous. I wonder if Verizon is in on this scam and making money as well of it. They also told me to reply “stop” which I did and Joke mobi told me they unsubscribed me -we’ll see.
December 30th, 2007 at 5:50 am
Jokemobi did this to me too, exactly as described by others. I called Verizon, they promised to make a note of charges, but claimed to be unable to see spam text messages in my current billing cycle. Please, is there any way to shut down this fraudulent company.
December 30th, 2007 at 10:18 pm
I’m with Verizon and I also got subscribed to this 90900 Joke Text messaging service.
Now here is the joke: I DON’T HAVE A PHONE with Verizon. All I have with them is a USB modem and a $59.99/mo unlimited data plan for connecting my laptop wirelessly to the internet. My modem has no screen or keyboard, it’s a piece of black plastic. According to Verizon it does have it’s own unique tel number but I’ve only used that number as reference during billing or support inquiries. I wouldn’t know how to use this black box for sending receiving messages.
The Verizon operator said; “Well your laptop has a screen”. Oh yeah. I pay $60/mo for internet access in order to receive text message jokes on my laptop cause as we all know it’s impossible to find jokes anywhere on the internet with the writer’s strike and all.
Then the operator wanted me to use modem software to send a text message to 90900 to unsubscribe except the modem software can’t perform such function.
I think what we should do is go to jokemobi.com and start entering our politician’s tel numbers to subscribe. All you have to do is enter the tel number, click a checkbox and press the subscribe button. Then they may notice. I also have the Verizon operator’s number. I may enter that too.
January 3rd, 2008 at 11:25 pm
Just got 2 spams from jokemobi on my cell phone. Hesitant to reply to any spam message! (message says to replay with “STOP”).
I’ve talked to Verizon about earlier spam messages, and it’s unbelievable that in today’s technology, they (or we, as consumers) cannot block spam text messages!
As for jokemobi, you cannot just sign people up for services they did not ask for! And how dare the cell providers just give away our credit card numbers?!
January 7th, 2008 at 10:08 pm
My brother just got this damn message too and since I am the primary owner, I had to call Verizon to find out the same message others are getting to. They tried to blame my brother for subscribing when I said it’s not possible. Anyways, they asked him to reply back with “STOP” and I will have to dispute this with them at a later date since no charges have been made. They have kept this notation in their database.
January 8th, 2008 at 11:03 pm
Got same thing on one phone line. Called Verizon, followed stop instructions from verizon. Verizon stated that in order to subscribe to a premium message service, the vendor has to send two emails showing that you confirm acceptance of the service.
I do not believe that not responding to an unsolicited email is considered acceptance of terms.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Under the USAPATRIOT ACT Verizon is required to keep all communications (email) for a term of one year. It should be easily proven that none of us subscribed for this.
January 10th, 2008 at 1:33 am
Class Law Suite? Count me in. My father in-law got subscribed to this 90900 Kepler Joke Text too. He had never sent a single text message and had limited English language skill who wanted to read joke on his cell phone. Is this a joke?
January 16th, 2008 at 5:04 am
I have been receiving axcess charges for my phone for at least three months.Alltel says that I must call their office to clear this up. I have contacted this office and have bee told these charges are real. I have not used this axcess service even though they say I have. I told them I wanted axcessing blocked, but with Januarys bill there are more axcessing charges. It will be cheaper for me to cancel my contract early with Alltel and go with a new service than continuing to pay for a service I don not use. I will be telling everyone I know not to go with Alltel.
January 16th, 2008 at 1:11 pm
Remember to file a complatint about Jokemobi.com with the “National Do Not Call” registry…assuming you are signed up for that.
As this is a business that solicits a good or service, they are liable with this government org. Each illegal action after the first is fineable by up to $10,000. BUT YOU NEED TO TAKE ACTION!!!
They texted me at 11:57 PM at night, and sent all three texts at the same time, completely illegal, as it gave me no opportunity to deny or signup, they automatically signed me up and billed me.
Called Verizon…they’ll take it off the bill, but i have to wait a billing cycle, soooo they still get paid!!
File complaints with the FTC, FCC, BBB, do not call registry and any others you can think of…stop these criminals.
January 17th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
The same thing happened to me. I tried to contact Jokemobi 3 times and to this day haven’t received a response. So I filed a comlaint with the FTC and sent an e-mail requesting a refund to a supervisor @ Verizon Wireless so we’ll see what happens…….
January 27th, 2008 at 11:51 pm
I have been on the phone twice with Sprint explaining to them that I never signed up for this service. The only thing they have told me is to contact Kepler and “unsubscribe”. How can I unsubscribe when I never subscribed in the first place! Why would we all want to pay more for jokes? We know better than to get enrolled in these third party businesses

Class action lawsuit
Lauren Gresham v. cellco partnership d/b/a verizon wireless
Case# BC387729
LA County superior court
July 21st, 2008 at 7:24 pm
Heck, I wanna know how I can get a piece of this action. How do I set up something where I can just text any phone number and have $10 instantly credited to my business account? Sweet!
July 25th, 2008 at 5:52 am
Guess I’ll opt out of the suit since (1) I received my credit from Verizon Wireless; (2) I achieved my goal of taking the problem to the office of the CEO of Verizon Wireless, from whom I (3) received assurances that the practice would cease; and (4) have not seen any further complaints on this forum dated after January 28th, 2008… about a month after my post of December 18th (above). You’re welcome. Where’s MY $1000??
July 25th, 2008 at 12:54 pm
The heck with opting out. I want my 100K. (I know, it started at 1K but inflation you know, the price goes up.) I also want the personal names and home addresses and phone numbers of the people behind this scam. I want to call them up and irritate them.
July 27th, 2008 at 12:43 pm
my phone cannot be worked.the out going calls and incpming calls are blocked.so please activate the cell phone and it be worked well for calling
October 22nd, 2008 at 7:20 am
happened to me as well. I called verizon they told me to text the word stop and i did.. that didnt stop it. verizon credited my bill and blocked all premium messaging. TODAY (12/12/08) i just got a check in the mail for 9.99 for a class action against them…. i didnt even know i was in it! check your mailboxes!
December 12th, 2008 at 5:49 pm
Same as Alicia above. It took some work to get my phone charges reversed from Verizon but they did it. I don’t think I managed to convince them that the jokemobi people were criminals and they were complicit in processing payments for criminals. Yesterday ie 18 months later I got my settlement payment for $9.99. I bet only 1% of the scam victims complained loud enough to get compensated. I wish these people get thrown in jail.
December 12th, 2008 at 11:54 pm
My husband received a settlement payment for $9.99 today too. I believe he did eventually get the charges reversed all those months ago, but Verizon were total a-holes about it, insisting it wasn’t their problem, and that those text messages NEVER arrive unsolicited. Yeah right. Same thing happened to me a month ago and I called verizon ASAP to tell them that I was not to be charged, and to remove premium messaging from my account. They did both without any hassle, so it would seem they’ve wised up.

I just got a settlement check also for $19.98. I didn’t realize I was part of the class action. I do vaguely remember getting the joke of the day nuisance. I was just to busy to ever do anything about it. Which is exactly how these insidious scams make money. I sincerely hope the cell phone carriers address these types of issues by making some from of proactive, default block for unsolicited 3rd Party text messages. That is their responsibility to the market.

I just got my settlement check for $9.99. I remembered dealing with them. I still don’t understand who approved for the jokes. Also, I feel like it’s partly our cell phone company’s fault too for allowing this to happen.

The same thing happened to me, I contacted Verizon and they blocked future text messages, but will not refund any charges. Today I received my settlement check in the amount of $9.99
I still not happy with Verizon for allowing this to happen.

I haven’t received a check. I posted a year ago in October!

All those who got checks” – look at them closely. They may be a Trojan Horse. My company never filed a claim but got a check for $19.98. I suspect if we cash it, we will have “bought” the right for JokeMobi.com to send us jokes and bill our cellular service. Beware the giver of unexpected gifts.

Thanks, Administrator. Better late than never. Funny, nowhere on the check letteer does the name “Verizon” appear. We’ll cash the check and “pray”.

im cashing the check at my local “check cashing place” in case. Sorry Verizon i never trusted you, with good reason. Even back in the airtouch days.

thanks for the $19.98
I guess

Thanks for the $9.99 check, but I also feel this is like a BIG TROJAN HORSE. Let’s face it, once you’ve cashed the check, the sender has your signature, your bank routing number and your checking account number. Too much info on me for my comfort zone.

I received a check for $9.99. Is this check for real?,or by cashing it will sign me up for more unauthorized JokiMobi crap. I called Verizon about the check and the service rep did not know anything about it. Hate to throw $9.99 away but it could be for the best.

I received a check for $9.99 and feeling weary about the whole thing. I think like some of you that his could be a Trojan Horse – you never know. Better waste $9.99 than have them get into your acount information and loose a lot more. I don’t think $9.99 is worth the trouble. Our kids where the one that got the text jokes, they didn’t accept the text but still got them. How riduculous these are just kids – JokebMobi doesn’t care who they target.

It’s all part of a court approved settlement:

I also rec’d a check for $9.99. I sent an email to the attorneys listed on the court documents and rec’d the following reply. Apparently these checks are fine.
“I was forwarded your e-mail regarding the validity of the checks sent by the JokeMobi Settlement Administrator. Our firm, KamberEdelson LLC, has been designated class counsel in the action, the settlement of which resulted in Verizon’s issuance of checks to consumers who have been overcharged or charged without their authorization by JokeMobi. You can rest assured that the checks are not fraudulent and are safe to cash.” Hope this helps.

I called At&t reported 90900 sending me messages and a charge of $9.99 which I never signed up for. 90900 is a scam ! If you reply Stop to all that may stop anymore messages being sent.

On my cell bill a charge of $11.99 was billed to me. I called and was told it will be removed. It was from a 90900 number. Dont use or reply to 90900 and you should be safe.
