I responded to an ad on the net that I saw about a FREE music download. I started filling out their online questionnaire until I saw that it was not FREE after all so I decided not to dinish filling up the forms and press cancel. To my great dismay, my daughter told me that they started charging our phone bill. ESBI immediately removed the charges though when my daughter called them about it. However, much to our surprise, they billed us again last month. Upon contacting ESBI again, we were told that AMERICAN EVOICE LTD. are now dealing directly with this matter. Hope they stop this fraudulent business practice of theirs.

  2. Katie Humphries says:

A company, ESBI, prepared direct billing for American eVoice on our Verizon Business Phone Bill. We were charged for 16 months of unauthorized monthly voicemail fees. When I contacted American eVoice, the person and address on the account they are charging us for, is not even anyone with our company. I emailed them to request a refund, and will watch our next 2 invoices to see if the credit appears. The contact information I reached them at is: Processing Center: 2120 So. Reserve Street, PMB#239, Missoula, MT 59801 / Fax#: 775-582-1311 / email: support@myamericanevoice.com

I called and they promised to reverse the charges. But infuriates me is that ATT refused to take responsibility for allow that charges to apprear in their billing. ATT could be a partner or collaborator in this SCAM. ATT cannot simply plea innocence and pass on the calls to complain.

I am a senior citizen living on Social Security, so I need every dollar of my income. American Evoice charged me (unauthorized) for about 7 months ($105 approx) and when I caught them at their cheating game, they promised me a full refund. Today I rec’d $60 via check. I’m supposed to write to Missoula, Mt. to beg for the rest! You know what outcome THAT will have! What an outrage! We ought to file a class action suit against these thieves. I am hurt and disgusted, and mad as hell. Going to report this to BBB and the Virginia Consumer Complaints place. Pure scam, and senior citizens who don’t check closely are the victims. What can be done about this?

  5. Brad says:

I too am a customer of AT&T but have not yet contacted them regarding there part in allowing this sort of act to be committed against their customers. The ESBI representative was courteous and promised to remove the charge and cancel the unsolicited service. I will be watching to see what comes of this and contacting AT&T as well. If need be there are several groups that can be involved to resolve this type of issue: PUCO (Public Utilities Commission), BBB (Better Business Bureau), and the consumer fraud division of the Attorney’s General office.

I am being charged for a service I never used! I have been paying $14.95 amonth for 1 year.

  7. Bruce Goldberg says:

An American eVoice charge billed by ESBI showed up on my bill in March as well. I never looked at the detail and was dumb enough to pay the charge. It has showed up again. Not paying this time! This was billed through Verizon, not AT&T as several others here have stated. I just saw this and will talk to ESBI on Monday.

  8. Alissa W. says:

Our business line is thru AT&T and I agree; AT&T should have some responsibility in allowing these charges go thru without notice to their customers (besides their usual 10-pg invoice itemizing charges and fees for fees!) Apparently, we had been billed for 13-months before realizing it and American eVoice credited us for 9 months. American eVoice basically is “stealing” from us and there should be legal actions taken against them!

  9. Bruce Goldberg says:

I called Verizon today. They said “no problem” and credited me the two months charges from American eVoice. They also put me on the 3rd party billing stop list so that I cannot fall victim to one of these again. When I called eVoice I was told that when agreeing to the terms and conditions at some job hunting website, we agreed to take their service. I asked who agreed….they gave me some name I’ve never heard of. What ever happened to making money the old fashioned way—by working for it!

  10. Bruce Goldberg says:

That last sentence above should have read “What ever happened to making money the old fashioned way–by working for it, rather than scamming it from people.”

  11. Richard Gates says:

I too was billed on my Verizon account for 9 months prior to catching this scam. I called the number for American E Voice and got 3 months credit (866-576-1875) and then wrote a letter re the other 6 months charges asking for credit and did receive it from them. I faxed it to (775-582-1311). When questioning them on who authorized this service, they gave me an unknown name of “Landon Rivero”. I also cannot understand Verizon allowing this and wished I knew some “big wig” in the company to complain to.

  12. Richard Gates says:

It is important to spread the word to others to pay attention to their phone bills re these scam charges.

  13. Bruce Goldberg says:

    Richard,
I just saw an article today in the Washington Post that the name of the CEO is Ivan Seidenberg. I looked online and found the corporate headquarters address on the Verizon 10K report. It is 140 West Street, New York, New York 10007. I guess if you’re going to contact a “big wig”, he’s the biggest wig in the company! I may do that also.

  14. Adele N. says:

I got charged for 6months by Evoice. When I called they told me the only way to get it off is by e-mail or fax. I decided to e-mail. Butyou cannot find them on the Web. I did not authorize this. It was added to my bill from AT&T. They will not remove it. Just put it on a dispute log. Every month it’s added to my bill 6months worth. Which caued my internet to be shut-off and a $20.00 reconnect fee. Something needs to be done

My telephone has calls made after office hours. That ts office line, I want to give my complain. All the calls are made pased office working hours

  19. Rob Weaver says:

I was hit by ESBI, American eVoice on my Verizon bill. I called the toll free number and got a runaround about how I signed up for the service on a website. They offered to refund 3 months of charges. I couldn’t get a phone number out of them to call to get all of the charges refunded. All I could get was their PO Box is Missoula. Verizon allowed this charge on my bill even thought their own discussion boards were full of reports on the scam. I called Verizon’s billing fraud department, they refused to do anything and even insisted that they had to allow the eVoice charges. I had two other companies pull the same thing on my Verizon bill. Finally after 3 1/2 hours on the phone I got Verizon to refund all my money.

  20. jane archer says:

I understand this has been going on for a long time but I just today received a phone bill with charge of 14.95 on my centurylink bill. I was for american evoice and ESBI. I called and they promised to remove the charge. I will wait and see. Something has to be done I feel sure these people are making a lot of money from people who do not pay close attention to their bills. You can’t tell me these phone companies are billing us and passing the money on to these scam artist without receiving something in return for their trouble. Hard to believe they would just be doing them a favor out of the goodness of their hearts. If they want to do some charity work why not give us our phones for free.

  21. Holly Choate says:

I noticed a charge for $14.95 on my Verizon acct from ESBI on behalf of American Evoice. I checked back and I’ve been paying this charge for 6 months – just after I changed my FIOS TV package with Verizon. I called the number listed on my bill to American eVoice and they told me a family member had gone to the Jobs.com website and signed up for it. He has never done this. He doesn’t even know what the service is and doesn’t even use Jobs.com. The woman on the phone agreed to credit me 3 months worth and said it would take 1-2 billing cycles to see. She told me I could email support@myamericanevoice.com and request further credit but there was no guarantee I’d get it. I am LIVID!!
