A variety of laws at both the federal and state levels regulate customer affairs. These customer protection laws regulate the relationships between individual customers  and the businesses and companies  that sell those goods and services to the customers.

Customer rights laws cover a wide range of legal issues and wrongful conduct, including but not necessarily limited to product liability, defective consumer products and services, warranties, privacy rights, identity theft, unfair, fraudulent or deceptive business practices, misrepresentations and omissions, and other consumer and business interactions and wrongdoing.  Hundreds of thousands of customers just like you lose time and money every year due to unscrupulous business practices and consumer fraud.

Omg the same thing happened to me. Almost word for word. A gentleman called my cell phone and said, “you have won $1000 worth of free groceries and a free trip anywhere I wanted not including airfare. There is no catch, we are a reputable company you can check with the BBB if you have any questions. The only thing we ask is that you pay $2.90 for shipping, because we are not affiliated with usps”. I was on the phone with him and giving him my credit card info and he assured me 10 times that nothing else would be charged to my card, just info would be sent for me to look over. So I agreed. 10 days later, on 3/26/2009, I received a letter with grocery coupon password info and welcoming me to advance benefits as well a brochure of advance benefits. The catch is that you have to pay for coupons. I never received a membership card or trip info, but immediatley called them, spoke with andy for 30mins yelling at him that I didn’t want to be signed up for anything and I wanted him to cancel anything that was ordered. He kept trying to get me to accept it and saying “I will extend you trial for an additional 10 days or 30 days”. But I never signed up for anything. That was on the 26th of march 2009. Now I got my statement from my bank and there are 3 charges from them on the 16th of march when they called me for $2.95, $2.95 and $1.95. I am immediatley going to my bank in the am to list them as fraudulant. I have left a message for advance benefits, but I am scared that I will continue seeing or not seeing charges. I read other comments from people getting charges to their phone bills from them. How is this possible? How did they get my cell in the first place? I guess my husband was right, nothing is for free. If it sounds to good to be true it is.
