Email Discount Networks sent an email addressed to Landry Phillips at my email address welcoming Landry to their service.
Two months later I received charges of $14.95 on my phone bill for these unsolicited “services.”
I received a customer service phone number from my phone company and called it, insisted that I was not cancelling a service I had never requested. I was, instead demanding a refund of all charges for this unsolicited “account.” I was given (at my insistence) a confirmation number and was told two months charges of $14.95 would be refunded.
We’ll see what happens next.

Same here with me, i got that $14.95 on my bill either but im sure that i did not know anything about them. I called At%T and im waiting too. The police should do something to investigate them.

I received my telephone bill yesterday, Friday, July 24th and noticed a $14.95 charge on my summary of services for some EMAIL DISCOUNT NETWORK. I’ve never heard of these people and I immediately called them to find out who they were and how they did this. The CSR started sounding obtuse and incoherent when I demanded the charges be taken off but claimed that she did. When I said I would call AT & t for an investigation she practically begged me not to call them. Since this was a Friday evening I will call them first thing Monday morning. This is an unbelievable fraud and I want to get to the bottom of it. HOW DID THEY GET MY NAME AND TELEPHONE NUMBER?
July 25th, 2009 at 5:13 pm
Today I noticed the charge on phone bill.I called discount EMail, who they would refund in 2 billing periods.Service is in name of someone who had my # 3-4 years ago.I don’t understand how charges can be billed to you on someone eles’ say so; sounds like conspiracy. Lets all try to bill a few thousands to ATT.

I, too, had a charge of $14.95 on my residential phone bill. When I called to tell them to remove the charge, I was told I had authorized this service!! I HAD NOT! I was also told my refund would take 1-2 billing cycles to go through. They were very courtious, though…

I have just got this service cancelled from my phone bill also. I do not know how they got my information but they had one letter off in my name and used that to justify the cancellation. I am going to contact my Attorney General Consumer division and file a complaint. I recommend everyone do the same.
August 16th, 2009 at 2:53 pm
I had a similar experience as those described. When I called to have the charges removed, I was given an explanation that made no sense. The customer service rep told me that someone with my same last name and a different first name (though with the same first initial) had signed up for their service and it must have been erroneously charged to me because that person’s phone number was entered incorrectly in their system. What are the chances of that being true? My phone company advised me to report this to the FCC, which I am going to do.

Email Discounts fraudulently charged my AT&T account for two months. I called to cancel their “service.” Later I finally got the nerve to ask for a refund. Both times the person I spoke with was very pleasant. I have received an email saying that my refund has been processed.
October 16th, 2009 at 4:23 pm
I have been “charged” for a service that I never signed up for. I called Email Discounts and was told that they did not have a record with my name in their system. However, the last 2 months AT&T has billed me. AT&T took off the first bill. I now must call AT&T again. This is a pain.
October 30th, 2009 at 9:31 pm
This is wire fraud on an interstate basis and should be prosecuted by the Feds. Only problem is…the FCC has mandated that AT&T handle these third party billings as a “service” to the “little guys” by the big bad phone company. AT & T gets nothing out of it but grief from the customers whose realtions are damaged by this government sanctioned practice. 1) tell your phone company that you do not allow any third party billing to your number 2) contact the FCC and your State Attorney General and 3) let your local media know this scam. It most likely preys on the senior citizen and non English speaking people.

This is second time I have had problems with AT&T allowing such 3rd
party companies to bill Unauthorized Phone Charges to my account . I have never authorized Email Discount Networks LLC to bill anything to account. In fact, over a year ago I had informed my phone company that I do not allow any third party billing to my number . I don’t understand how or who authorized changes to my account profile.

I just realized that I have paid this for 2 months without knowing it. The charge showed up as “Enhanced Services Billing Inc. for the bargain price of 15.85 per month. I never authorized this- Big surprise. Got no sympathy from AT&T customer service- just lame responses- “call the company that put these charges on and complain to them” etc. I asked how I could sign up to get free money from AT&T (coment ignored. They gave me a phone number of the Executive office (800-592-5386) to register a complaint. The person I talked to was a bit more helpful, said by filling out the forms that they are sending, if will get reviewed and may help to get this scam company cut off by AT&T. She also said the person she talked to before me had the same complaint.

Same story here. I saw the 3rd-party charge on my phone bill for $14.95. No one in my house knew anything about it. I cancelled via internet, which only worked when I used my wife’s email addr. So, we know whose name they got. I called to get a refund and Mite graciously took care of it (1-2 billing cycles, like everyone else). My wife is VERY conservative and pays no bills on line, does no shopping on line, nor did she reply to any confirmation email authorizing her membership. Sheesh… how’d they sign her up?
November 29th, 2009 at 4:01 pm
Same Story. This also happened on my cell account with a different scam artist. Put a block on premium text services with your cell provider.
December 1st, 2009 at 1:06 pm
not only email ntwk twice@14.95 but also myiproducts for another 14.95 all on same bill from att. Myi gave me an ip address that answers back to ameritech. Could att be scamming their own cust.??? If not why hasn’t this been taken care of by now???? Why would att put up with complaints, 1-800#’s that sent you in circles only to have you get your own confirmation # from these scum companies so you would have to call att back again with the conf. number to get it off your bill? Third party??? Don’t know I’m starting to smell fish! It stinks!!
December 21st, 2009 at 6:17 pm
Also when I called MYIPRODUCTs and EMAIL DISCOUNT both gave me of the same email address at yahoo.com that charged my account with my personal info. that only att would know. It’s really starting to sound like circle. people are paying money they don’t need to pay. Time to jump off the boat!

Last phone bill AT&T had an attached fee for $14.95. Told the phone company about it and they did not help.I place AT&T in the same company of crooks as the banks an Wall street.

AT&T has been billing us for 2 yrs for enhanced billing services. My husband thought you had to pay for email. Then last month we had 2 other add ons. I called and told them i did not request these services. This month there is the Enhanced billing service again. I called them again. They will take me off but I have to pay the bill this month. I am glad I found this site. I filed a suit form for an attorney to look at. Ready to cancel all services with AT&T.
January 13th, 2010 at 8:53 am
Forgot to ask “Why are these services put on the AT&T phone bill?” Why don’t they just bill us. Is it a scam? I think so.
January 13th, 2010 at 8:57 am
Email Discounts, LLC has been billing me for 18 months through AT&T and Enhanced Services Billing Inc. Like several other people here I thought the “enhanced services” was the various additional services I have with the company – voice mail, call forwarding, 3 way calling, and the long distance packages. I have had zero contact with this company and can’t believe that AT&T allows bogus fees to be passed on to their clients. As soon as I get these fees refunded I am done with AT&T!
January 26th, 2010 at 10:50 pm
I was lucky to catch this charge the first month it started. Like all the other stories I’ve heard, I was told that I signed up for this service on the internet and that is of course, absolutely false. I hope someone puts them out of business soon.
February 2nd, 2010 at 2:14 pm
On our family’s January phone bill, we found an unknown charge for $14.95 from something called E-mail Discount Network, LLC (which we never heard of).
When we called AT&T, they claimed that we had signed up for this service on the 4th of January and that we should have gotten a confirmation e-mail and also a phone call at our home when we did. WE NEVER GOT EITHER!
When we asked for it to be canceled, they said that they would send us an e-mail with a number confirming the cancellation. NEVER GOT IT. We had to call back 2 days later and get the cancellation number over the phone.
Doesn’t look like I’ll be able to get a refund. THIS IS A HUGE SCAM!!!
I still have no idea what this company even is.
February 18th, 2010 at 2:43 pm
Just had the same problem most of you have dealt with. They had my 15 year old daughter’s name. Thing is, we don’t even USE our landline phone for anything. It’s only there for emergency purposes because we all have cells. Also…when the customer service person was “cancelling my account”, she asked if I had an email address. I promptly replied “NO!”. Gee…if this was in any way, shape or form legitimate, you’d think they would have already had that, hmm?? So by the dates on your complaints, it looks like this has been going on for nearly a year now.
February 22nd, 2010 at 7:07 pm
We just had to deal with these people again. After seeing the charges on our bill last month we called and according to them we had authorized the charges. Why would we need an e-mail account that we had to pay for when we get one through our internet service? Well they supposedly canceled the account and AT&T refunded our account for 2 months of charges. We opened our phone bill this month and lo and behold another charge from Enhanced Billing Services aka Email Discounts LLC. After calling and arguing with them for 20 minutes that the account was cancelled last month they blocked our number from thier service and said no more charges would be on our bill. AT&T customer service once again credited our bill. We’ll see how it goes next month.
February 24th, 2010 at 4:59 pm
$30 of fraudulent charges appeared on my monthly AT&T phone bill, effectively almost doubling my normal bill.
I called the billing number listed and got an overseas operator who claimed that the charges were likely due to someone mistyping their own phone number when signing up for their services.
The operator claimed that my phone bill would be credited within 1-2 billing cycles.
The frustrating part here is that the only thing someone needs to put a charge on my phone bill is my phone number. This is clearly very fallible and open to abuse.
February 27th, 2010 at 1:19 pm
i did not sighn up for this … how do i get my $14.95 back
March 14th, 2010 at 5:49 pm
I have been accused by my uncle of scaming him for money because EDN put my name on his phone bill so it looks like I’m the one authorizing the charges and he’s not internet savvy so he doesn’t know about internet scams. It looks like they find ppls phone numbers from public records sites that provide them with all info they need to start charging people. I have looked at ppl search sites and here i was as relative living in same house (way outdated info), so they got my email his phone number and here we are. How do we shut them down?
March 18th, 2010 at 1:45 pm
I recieved an e-mail from cs_support@edn saying thank-you for your order. What order?, I don’t even know what edn stands for. The E-mail stated I would be billed 14.95 on my phone bill, What? I caught it early and used a link to cancell(I hope). The worse part is AT&T will bill you for these third party scammers as I was victim to just 2 months previous. Call AT&T and request no third party billing. Thanks a lot AT&T, I believe your party to these scammers by association.
March 23rd, 2010 at 11:19 pm
Each month they use a different DID number to bill to. It is very frustating having to call them each month to get the credit.
March 30th, 2010 at 4:11 pm
I never recieved any information saying I would be charged for anything nor did I ever sign up for anything. They just billed me.They said they would cancel it and credit my account.I told her if not I would join a class action lawsuit.Ive had one earlier in the year called premiun long distance that billed me when my long distance is free.lol.but not funny. Its from the free gift card sites if you attempt to sign up for that, they have your info and will probably or obviously sell it or distribute it to other animals.
April 27th, 2010 at 7:20 pm
Has AnYoNe figured out the source of the sign up? My nephew apparently signed me up. But where???
April 28th, 2010 at 8:42 pm
The source of the sign up is trying to get a free gift card they post online all the time.the ones that say you must complete this and that offer to receive the gift card,or laptop, ect.once you fill that out, they sign you up for this crap,I guess it is in the terms and agreement of these sites so its not illegal what theyre doing, its our fault for not reading the fine print.Dont shoot the messenger,I am utterly disgusted by these people but just call and tell them to cancel it and they will and gredit you account.than call your phone company and tell them not to allow 3rd party billing.good luck.Im in the process of getting it taken off my bill.
April 29th, 2010 at 3:53 pm
Just noticed this charge hidden on the back of the 2nd page of my phone bill. I don’t know how long it has been there but we have never authorized the charges.
July 31st, 2010 at 12:54 pm
We just caught an this same billing but it was 4 months and I didn’t sign up for any free giveaways. It must have occurred when facebook opened the security and the sneaked in under the radar. The woman was polite and after twenties minutes of both my husband and I explaining the issue they refunded the total amount of the billing and blocked the site from futher charging. I contacted our phone provider and gave them the confirmation number for refund. Remember to get the confirmation number in order to pass it on to your phone company.

Just got off the phone with AT&T AND this Email discount company (8/09/10). They have charged me for the past 3 months, June, July & August 2010 for a service I NEVER signed up for or authorized – they cancelled it and, as a “courtesy” will only refund $14.95 (not including tax). I have referred this to my attorney. $30.00 may not be much for most people, but for me, it’s quite a lot.
August 9th, 2010 at 9:37 am
$15.85 charge on bill labeled The Billing Resource. Referred from 800-476-7415 to Email Network at 800 730-8199. They said it was for an email service and agreed (immediately on a bad, low volume phone line) to block the billing. Gave a confirmation number.
August 11th, 2010 at 8:20 am
Email Discounts charged my ATT account for $14.95/month since December 2009. I called them and they agreed to refund ALL the charges. After some pressure they mentioned the email address that was used for signing up, an email address I never used. They identity verification process is totally flawed. I can’t believe ATT allows this.
September 27th, 2010 at 11:06 pm
Had this charge added to my mother’s account. She doesn’t do anything online, and the home phone is mainly for screening calls. There is no way this was authorized by her so this is wildly illegal. CPNI account verification is required for all billing changes with any phone carrier (or ANY service provider in that case).
September 28th, 2010 at 7:22 pm
Much of the previous applies to me too but I am extremely carefull when using the internet and will not get sucked into questionable sites. I don’t open them I just block them. I called AT&T because I had 2 companies on my bill. They blocked both of them but to get any refund I had to call them. They each referred me to other companies they provided a billing service for. Now I had to call a third layer, the devious one. At EDN I talked with a woman with a thick Asian accent. I had a difficult time understanding her and asked her to slow down please. She was very agitated and said that because they had costs to cover in verifying my information she could not issue a refund for the previous month but would refund the current charge. So I get the $14.95 but not the .90 MI state tax. The other company has been ripping me off for over a year. They’ve changed Names & tx nos on my bill during that time. They would not issue any refund due to the length of time they’ve been ripping me off! AT&T will block these companies but I am going to call them back and block all third party billing. I may have to do that in writing. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and will do so with the Michigan Atty Gen Consumer Complaint div also. Google EDN’s name & you will find other lawsuits, even one by the Florida AG. Does anyone know where EDN is located? They sent me an email confirming my cancellation but nobody’s name is on it, no place of business, & it warns me that I should not complain to anyone because I gave them my information myself. This is the most despicable company I’ve ever dealt with. Some people might be intimidated by their tactics which I am sure the AG will be interested in. Everyone should report these companies to anyone and everyone. Be as detailed as you can. Certain common words and phrases will jump out and be useful in our common goal to eliminate these companies from ripping off anyone ever again.

I could not believe it when I called AT&T and they said they had to put a block on my account with them from 3rd parties attaching obscure fradulant bills to MY account!! I had been getting charged $15.70 a month for over a year before I really checked into this mess! It is labeled the “Billing Resource” on my account but it is E-mail Discount Network. Some garbage fraud company that “said” I signed up for their network of whatever it is! This company is a bunch of lowlifes thriving off the satisfaction of stealing from people. How gross. Contact BBB!
