  1. spencer barrett says:

Never ordered…Never heard of findyourdiet.com, but I received a 14.95 billing on my Feb. 09 AT&T statement. Called both AT&T and United Tel LLC and advised to cancel unwanted and unordered “Crap.” I cancelled my autopay and am paying AT&T only their portion of the billing. Asked AT&T to NOT allow any further third party billings and they said, “FCC won’t let them do that!” Why the H not????? More government BS!!!

  2. rebecca says:

I was paying bills this morning and noticed that my phone bill with AT&T was substantially higher than normal. Go figure – the back page was from a billing company called HBS billing services that billed me for another company called UNITED TEL, LLC – a recurring monthly charge of $14.95 on behalf of yet another company listed as findyourdiet.com. I called the HBS company and told them that this was not my bill. They gave me the information the fraudulent party used to create the bill, and the IP address of the party. It was done in the Virgin Islands, they used an old address, half my email address, and my phone number to commit this fraud. HBS then told me that they would take care of the problem, but that it might take several billing cycles to clear it up, and that I should call the phone company to have this type of billing blocked. So I called AT&T and they told me there was nothing they could do about it. They said they cannot block this kind of billing, and that they could not remove the charge from my bill. I stated that I was not going to pay it, and the agent informed me that I would receive late charges and possible shut off if I did not pay it. Then he tried to sell me more AT&T services.

I called the originator of the billing yesterday – UNITED TEL, LLC – and the woman who took my call was THE most rude and unprofessional person I have ever spoken to in my life! I told her that the charges were fraudulent, to stop billing my phone, and never ever to bill my phone for anything ever again. She tried to argue with me about the charge of course, and I tried explaining to her that I did not authorize it, and that the IP address of the person who ordered it was not even in my COUNTRY!! She asked me how I knew where the IP address was, and I told her that HBS gave it to me and that I had traced it myself. She then said she traced it as well and gave me a name of an ISP that was not mine. I told her I wanted my money back, and the woman (named Melissa) said, “I’m not giving you anything.” Then she called ME a bitch and hung up on me!!
So United Tel, in my eyes, is nothing but a fraudulent company set up to scam and cram on unsuspecting people using their phone bills. I had no idea that companies like this can use your telephone like an open line of credit, and just bill whatever they want to it. What I don’t understand is why they have to bill through HBS, and then through AT&T. What is even worse, is that there are TONS of reports about United Tel ripping people off all over the place. Apparently this is standard business practice for these people. What I find the most screwed up is how in the world this can be allowed to continue – there should be criminal charges against this company at the very least.

  3. Vivian Rosso says:

I was surprised at my Dec bill with the findyourdiet charge. I called the # and when I told them that I had not ordered it, they tried to sell it to me! Couldn’t believe it. I told them to take me off and also called qwest. I only paid my normal bill and will continue to do that until this is resolved. Imagine my surprise when my Feb bill had the same charge. So, here I go again, using my precious time to call and get these charges disputed. I asked qwest if there was anyone else I could contact about this fraud and they hadn’t a clue. They did suggest I google them which is where I found this and many other sites. Thanks for letting me vent.

  4. Lawrence H. Rehill says:

I called Embarq when I received my bill today. I questioned a chage on my bill of $14.95 a mopnth for Findyourdiet, a company that I have never had dealings with nor would I have any dealings with any company which hadled its billing through my
phone bill. The person with whom I spoke said that she could not remove the charge. I said that I would not pay that portion of my bill.
    Respectfully,
    Lawrence H. Rehill

  5. C Cross says:

Same issue described above, but it took 3 calls to ENABILL to get a person with an IQ above 65. She confirmed that she has had similar complaints and said that the account will be cancelled and qwest refunded. She also gave me confirmation numbers for the transactions and said it probably happened because I filled out a form on the internet. The number it was billed to is a rarely used, well-protected fax number, so it is unclear how it was obtained. I am paying Qwest to preserve my credit and awaiting the refund.

  6. Lorie Smith says:

Im another pissed off Embarq customer. I pray findyourdiet.com goes to hell. ONLY IN AMERICA IS IT LEGAL TO CHARGE PEOPLE FOR SERVICES THEY DID NOT AUTHORIZE AND GET AWAY WITH IT!!!!

  7. Doug D says:

Response to Spencer Barrett: AT&T just blocked my third-party billing. If I were you, I’d call again. If you get someone different to answer the phone, you might get a different answer.

  8. Craig Campbell says:

File a complaint with your state attorney general. In Iowa we get action.

  9. shawn says:

Never ordered…Never heard of findyourdiet.com either, but I received a 14.95 billing on my March 09 AT&T statement. Called AT&T and cancel unwanted and unordered said bill I canceled my autopay and I am paying AT&T only their portion of the billing. That made me feel better. The guy on the phone was real nice and understanding. Thanks AT&T for helping me. I’m a single mom who watches every penny spent. Now i need to call those rip off artist and make sure this bogus bill is discontinued. From reading other comments I have a feeling it wont be pretty.

  10. Jennifer says:

Got the same unexpected $14.95 charge on my phone bill. Called the United Tel LLC number listed and they didn’t even know how to spell my last name. What the heck? Called AT&T and after explaining the situation to the customer service rep and telling her I’d like to have all third party billing blocked she transferred me to internet services customer tech! *smacks forehead*

I don’t have any more energy for dealing with this tonight. Guess tomorrow will be another frustrating call to AT&T.

  11. Harry Kneifel says:

I too was billed $14.95 for a subscription we did not request. United Tel agreed to cancel my subscription, but said I would be responsible for the intial billing. AT&T is sending me a Slamming Prevention document that I must sign and return to them, to prevent any future 3rd party billing. However, they did tell me that there is a good chance I might see 1 additional month’s billing show up from this diet scam before things are cleared up.

  12. Craig Campbell says:

I repeat, file a complaint with your State Attorney General. I just received notice that Enabill has agreed to pay a penalty to the State of Iowa based on the complaint of several Quest customers

  13. Thomas Evas says:

THis month I found the billing of 14.95 to my phone bill, I have nerver heard of this place or every talked to them. The phone company is not suppose to add anything with out talking personally to me. It seems that every few bills something is wrong. Sure wish I did not have the contract with my cell phone or I would drop AT&T completly. I will call the phone company on Tuesday since I just read the bill tonight

  14. Angela says:

Well, here’s what I’m digging up: Some guy named Thomas Tortora apparently owns UnitedTel who owns a company specializing in telephone billing. Tortora is also associated with a lot of eCommerce sites. So, it looks like he may be using his telephone billing company to fraudulently bill for his eCommerce associations. But, it gets better. People who’ve tried trial offers on his eCommerce sites are now getting fraudulent chartes to a site in Germany called EmpireStyle. And guess what? It looks like Tortura has some affiliation with Deutsch bank! (Deutschland/Germany)

  16. Troy-Colorado says:

After discovering I was being billed by Qwest for a United Tel/Enalbill/findyourdiet.com account I had no Idea about, Qwest informed me they could not help me, so I cancelled Qwest. Contacted United Tel/Enalbill/findyourdiet.com. And after many frustrating phone calls I am given the account isp location, user name, email address, birth date, all bogus information, isp from different state, all user info bogus except for last name & phone number. After long discussion with Unitedtel, they tell me the only info they verify is last name & phone number! Even though the rest of the information is bogus! Something very suspicious going on here. Now I am left to clean up the mess.

  17. Angela says:

I just found out United Tel used to be owned to Thomas Tortora but now belongs to Brian Einhaus. Both of these fellas were sued to the Washington State AG for other shady business practices. But, if I understand the settlement correctly, they only had to pay $25,000 of a 30K fine but the other $275K is hanging over their head as a “threat” against future fraud. If anyone here is experiencing this problem and lives in Washington State, please contact the AG and let them know he’s still doing this crap.

  18. Sarah says:

I didn’t catch it last month, so I had two month’s billed. I called United Tel and I did get a very nice and polite woman. I have not yet seen my next bill to confirm, but she told me that she reversed both month’s charges. She did try to tell me that it was the correct ISP, but by the sound of the complaints here, that’s probably from a script. Like so many people, I have never heard of findyourdiet.com, and no one in my house is even interested in dieting. It’s hard to “accidentally” sign up for a diet program when you’re not even interested in losing weight.

  19. Denice says:

OMG, was I livid when I opened my phone bill and found this charge, I called Unitedtel and ripeed them a new one, then I called ATT and ripped them a new one only to find out that they are not allowed to look at 3rd party billing (which is what this is). They can however look at it if the customer (me) call them and brings it to their attention, ATT will never offer the block service, it has to be requested by the customer as well. ATT made the adjusment on my bill, even though Unitedtel said they would issue a credit and gave me a transaction number, which after reading all the complaints, I feel is as bogis promise. I cannot beleive that this is happening. These folks are the scum of the earth and I really feel sorry for the seniors in our country who are clueless that these charges are on their PHONE bill. I am writing our states attourney in Texas adn also the statets attourney in NY. I beg you all to do the same, we have to get this kind of thing stopped.

  20. Tammie says:

Just discovered this unauthorized charge this morning. Will be calling and having all 3rd party billing blocked. AT&T has been nothing but a headache for me for the past 2 years…I have been trying to get my bill reduced (due to the economy) for the past 6 months, now they allow this on my bill…shows how much they understand??

  21. Christy says:

I discoverd these charges on my May phone bill. I called UnitedTel and they said they would reverese the charges, but I most likely agreed to the charges by filling out a survey online. I also contacted my phone company (Embarq) The lady who answered the phone was very helpful. She said she would reverese the charge and put a 3rd party block on our account, they would then dispute the charge with the company.

  22. Letetia Johnson says:

found these Charges on my bill, never heard of find your diet,I do not need them I am a dietitian.

  23. Cindy says:

I also discovered the same $14.95 charge. BEWARE!! AT&T will charge $16.55 (one time charge) to cancel all third party charges! This sounds like a scam between AT&T and this United TEL!!
The lady I talke to also said she would reverse both charges.

  24. Patty says:

Opened up my AT&T bill and found a charge of $14.95 to United Tel,LLC, I immediately called the # and advised them that this was an unauthorized charge and that their stinking company DID NOT have my permission to add these services to my phone bill. They advised it was canceled and I would see a credit on my phone bill for that amount within 2-3 business days. I called AT&T and requested them to put a block on any third-party billing and I was told they couldn’t do that. I’ll keep calling until I find someone at AT&T who will!!! Filed complaints with the FTC, Attorney General and also the FCC.

  25. Janie says:

In response to Thomas Evas…I too wish I did not have this contract with AT&T so that I could drop them flat!! Every month I have to call over something on my bill. Don’t know where this findyourdiet.com came from, but when I called them they “said” they would take it off and credit my account. We will see!! I use ebill and sometimes it is easy to forget to look over your bill when it does not come in the mail. I make sure I check my phone bill carefully every month.

  26. Jean Connolly says:

Same as all the others except they are into me for 3 months!

  27. Bucky/DallasTX says:

    Provider: AT&T
3rdParty: HBS Billing Services on behalf of FindYourDiet.com

    #Background
Two months ago, my younger brother (who lives with his parents) signed up for a job at YahooHotJobs and immediately started getting phone calls and spam from various schools and businesses wanting to get him to sign up with them.

    #Today
On our Mom’s phone bill, there was this $14.95 charge for FindYourDiet.

    #Actions Taken
Have your complete phone bill handy before you call.
Both the HBS and AT&T customer reps were pleasant and courteous.
You may need up to an hour total due to “waiting for next available rep”.

    1. Called HBS.
    Explained situation.
    They will cancel account.
They will put FindYourDiet on “block list”.
They will refund charge on next billing cycle.

    2. Called AT&T.
    Explained situation.
Told rep about my phone call to HBS.
Rep said they will reverse the $14.95 charge and to subtract it from our bill.
Any over-payment (Mom is paranoid about late fees) will show up as a credit on her next bill.
I asked if some way to block all 3rd party.
    “No due to FCC rules”.

    #Be vigilant!
Examine your phone bill as soon as it arrives and take action!

  28. Walter Bird says:

On Monday 6/15/09, I discovered A charge posted to my bank account from a site called Empirestly.net,which I have never even heard of. All I could find out is there are a number of fraud complaints against this company
and they have an address in Germany.
I am working with my bank to get my money back and hopefully this will be resovled soon.

  29. Aaron Gora says:

My mom called me from Mississippi to tell me that I had authorized a charge on her AT&T account for this diet service I had supposedly authorized. I was incensed and called the company but they said their computers were down. I just recently got married but when they said I authorized this action they used the hyphenated version of my name, which I NEVER do. The other thing that they screwed up with, and I cannot WAIT to get ahold of them tomorrow when the computers are back up and running… is I was PREGNANT at the time!! I wouldn’t have been looking for a diet anyhow. Now, I’m telling you this, the only place I hyphenate my name is on my facebook account. Just some food for though. Good luck everyone!

  30. Jim says:

Add me to the list. Neve heard of ‘em or contacted ‘em in any way that I am aware of. I am contacting the District Attorney, Attorney General, and the local television consumer help line to see if there’s a story here (and obviously there is) which should be more widely distributed in all forms of the media.

  31. Kim says:

I had a charge of $14.95 on this months bill from findyourdiet.com. I called AT&t and they reversed the charges. I will be on the look out on my next bill to make sure that they do not slip it in on me again!!!

  32. David says:

Same as above. Time to start lobbying congress to change the stupid law.

  33. Werner Stoehlker says:

Same happened to us, discovered today
    on AT&T phone bill.
    Called United Tell
    and they will cancel
    it and refund it.
    Its ashame and they
    should be prosecuted.

  34. Earline says:

Last month I paid the $14.95 charge thinking my husband ran up a long distance charge. To my surprise those same charges show up again on today’s statement. We are 76 years old and have no extra money for such foolishness. We did not request this charge.

  35. Rebecca Porter says:

I looked at my AT&T bill online today and had the $14.95 charge from findyourdiet.com. I called and spoke to “Jennifer” and asked her to explain to me how the whole transaction takes place. She said when this pop-up is opened that on the very first page in very clear bold letters that it asks for your phone number and explains the monthly fee to your phone bill. I told her that neither my husband or I would ever do that and she said that he had to give authorization. I told her that I knew it was a scam and to cancel the account and give me a refund. She said she cannot give a refund! I will call AT&T to give them a piece of my mind when I get home!

  36. Burton says:

I was also charged with a $14.95 monthly fee for Findyourdiet.com. I called the number given and was told that I would be removed from the subscription, but I would still have to pay the $14.95 this month. I then called AT&T and spoke with Trina. She took the charge off of my bill and blocked third party billing. The same thing happened to Trina, so she was most helpful in removing it. This is a scam and should be looked into by the proper officials.

  37. Michelle S. says:

I got the $14.95 charge from Findyourdiet.com on my July AT&T bill. What tipped me off was that my bill (this line is only used for work and is the same every month) was substantially higher. I called the 877 number listed on my AT&T bill and got a very sweet, obviously young girl. She immediately asked for my phone number and I refused her demanding to know what company I was calling because they answered as “Customer Service, how can I help you?” After she went through her script explaning what her company does (even though she NEVER said the name of her company) I told her there were erroneous charges on my phone bill. After looking up “my account” with my phone number she said my husband had made the charge for findyourdiet.com. If you knew my husband (6’4″ and almost 300 lbs) you’d know he is NOT interested in an online diet program. What a joke! So I told her those were fraudulent charges and she said that she’d close the account and credit my AT&T bill. Unfortunately, I have already paid the bill because I needed to close the account since I moved. I wonder 1) if they will refund the money, and 2) if AT&T will send me an overpayment check. I seriously doubt either one. We’ll see! I am a HUGE fan of capitalism, but theft is not captialism and this is outright theft. Even worse because we have no control over it. At least if someone breaks into my house I can defend myself. No such defense available to us here. Jerks.

  38. Michael says:

All the reports are quite accurate for the account of these unauthorized fraudulent charges. Contacted HBS and they canceled the account and promised to reimburse the charges.
The only thing, bothering me, is that the fraudulent scheme is active for at least 6 months. We should stop these bastards!

  39. Heidi says:

Father opened ATT bill today to find 14.95 charge for Findyourdiet.com. No one here ever heard of this site and no one using diet services. Trying to resolve through ATT. Hope not having same probs with their customer service as others above!!

  40. michelle says:

Unauthorized charges by findyourdiet.com. Calle dthe phone company and they said they could only credit me for the month. How do I get this stopped? this is unreal.

  41. Donna says:

Found a charge on local ATT phone bill for $14.95 from HBS billing services, billed on behalf of Unitel Te, LLC – FindYourDiet.com monthly fee. Had a questions # to call 1-877-547-8642 so I called it to complain that an unauthorized charge appeared on my card. The rep asked for phone number, name and zip code. After explaining I did not authorize any charges, he said he would cancel my account and cancel any future charges but I’d have to pay for current charge. I told him to PROVE that I signed up.. and that if I took him to court he’d have to prove it as well. Told him how this company has a bad rap on the internet as people such as this site and others have said it has happened to them too. The rep then said he would credit this months charge as well. It ticks me off that my local phone company is allowing 3rd party billing i the first place!

  42. Mike H says:

Same happened to us, discovered today
    on AT&T phone bill.
Called AT&T and phony diet company and got charges waived.
We need to do something. Tell me what do to to put these crooks out of business.

  43. michelle says:

I agree we need to put them out of business and ATT must accept their reponsibility and part in this!

  44. Kevin says:

Same thing happen to me. Found out from HBS billing services that it was my daughter that did the charge. My daughter stated that she didn’t download or fill out information for a diet service. One thing I did do is get a new cell phone for my daughter in June and that is when this started. I am wondering if there is an embedded code in new phones that once you put your chip in the new phone it signs you up for some kind of service that you don’t authorized but the chip for your cell phone service has your name which all they need. My daughter got the LG Xenon phone. If any of the previous blogs and new ones check if someone in your family has got a new phone and what kind of phone and that date the charges started. Hope we can track down how this is being done. Maybe some with the clout and people and run with this. please respond back if this is a possible starting point.

  45. aly says:

Same as everybody else. Just saw it on the phone bill today, it’s midnight, so will call tomorrow. Crazy! And I’ll be looking into switching phone companies as well.

  46. Paula says:

Opened my bill today, saw the 14.95 charge by United Tel. Called them and told them fraud, this really upset me!! The Marketing company who is doing this I believe is TTC Marketing Solutions, out of Chicago. Phone is 773 5450407. I also called them and gave them a piece of my mind! They said it would take one to two billing cycles to get refund. I am about to file charges with ATG and whoever else I can find!

  47. C Pond says:

I got the findyourdiet charge too. Didn’t authorise it, don’

  48. C Pond says:

I got the findyourdiet charge too. Didn’t authorise it, don’t need it. I’m in SF, CA. I’m not sure if the scammers are trying out different areas or what, but I think they will be going to jail.

I’m on hold with the 877 number right now.

  49. C Pond says:

The person I talked to at findyourdiet was very nice and said she removed the charges, cancelled the subscription and blocked my number from future signups.

She then tried to upsell me on some kind of cruise!

    Disgusting.

Whoever is running this fraud company needs to go to jail.

  50. Sharon says:

I got the same shock in my August phone bill from AT&T but there was also one from some 800 voice mail box number for $15.92 as well which jumped by bill up to $80! $30 more than I pay monthly. I called both companies as well as the phone company the phone company told me to only pay my regular monthly charges and the other companies gave me cancellation numbers and said that they had canceled the charges but after reading all of the above messages I am going to take further action. I was wonder if mostly only happens to AT&T customers? Do people who have cable or other internet phone service have this problem? Something really needs to be done about this type of thing. How can they just bill us for things that we never wanted? It takes no time for them to victimize us and forever for us to fix the problem, in the mean time we are stuck wasting our time and trying to keep out credit intact fixing the problem.

  51. Davina says:

Unbelievable!! I just got my phone bill and had 3 charges!!! from companies I had never heard of!!! findyourdiet.com — MYEMAILDEFENDER, INC. — KEY CLUB SAVE, LLC —everyone beware!! of all 3 of these scammers!! It has taken me nearly an hour to clear all this mess up with everyone claiming there is nothing that can be done. All 3 companies are claiming to refund my billing. and thankfully I was the only one on the verge of rude. My patience is feeling very thin.

  52. Rosaline Banks says:

I was charged by findyourdiet.com on my August AT&T phone bill. I called this merchant and they said that my husband had ordered their services. My husband and I were on the phone and he told them that he had not even heard of them. We then called AT&T and the lady that I spoke with said that this and order fradulent charges were happening when their customers went out to the internet and filled out surveys, forms, etc. We then placed a third party block on our phone, but still had to pay for two months of findyourdiet.com fees. Needless to say, I was pretty mad since AT&T had not confirmed these charges.

  53. Willie Rogers says:

I got this crap on my bill but there ain’t no way in he** it’s gonna get paid by me. I called the number and got the intercept message: Your call cannot be completed as dialed”. Completed or not, this is ridiculous. I have a 3rd party block on my phone too, but it must be something AT&T just charges some people for because I get this junk every fricking month!

  54. Willie Rogers says:

I got another number for these creeps from a company called Quantax, but when you call it, they all claim that thet can’t hear the caller. Well it’s a 24 hour line and I will call it all 24 of them until I get this sh** off of my bill!

  55. connie feist says:

findyourdiet.com charges of $14.95/ month. embarg placed this charge in “dispute”. you still need to call hbs directly and cancel the billing, ask for a credit and get a confirmation number before you leave the line. at that point embarq will have recourse. get that confirmation number. good luck.

  56. Willie Rogers says:

I received an email with the cancellation details. Now THAT’S what you need.

  57. Gerald Wagoner says:

We were falsely charged for six months for this service that we NEVER wanted or ordered.

  58. Eric says:

===Charging dead people for their services===. In reviewing my elderly mother’s AT&T phone bill this morning, I noticed it was much higher than usual. There was a charge of $14.95 on the HBS page for United Tell, LLC-FINDYOURDIET.COM MTHLY.
I called the number (800-687-5298), which I assumed was AT&T, it was ClickSpark.com! In speaking with them they indicated several times that my father was the one who signed up online.
When I explained that my father passed away over two years ago they immediately knew the gig was up and removed the charges.
I asked them for a number to United Tel to report the fraud and was told that they handled all customer support calls for United Tel and that they wouldn’t be able to provide a number to me. When I asked them if I was the District Attorneys Office, which number they would give me, I received the same answer, from the ‘supervisor’.
What they forgot to mention was that ClickSpark.com acquired United Tel in January 2009, but United Tel continues to operate independently.
These are fraudulent companies making money scamming those that do not scrutinize their monthly bills and or have automated monthly bill payments. With automated bill payments, you would believe that you are paying the normal amount until at some point, which could be months later, you review your bill and find the fraudulent charges. At that point, good luck collecting any of the money you have lost. This is a warning to all to review any bills you have that contain aggregated services and products. The company billing you, in this case AT&T, accepts no responsibility for any sub-billers or their actions. This type of billing vehicle is ripe for fraudulent practices. BE DILIGENT.

  59. Jennifer says:

I am outraged to see this on my phone bill !! It took me forever to get ahold of someone. When I asked what this was for….She told me unlimited games?? I said I thought this was a diet website. She said…oh, sorry we do that service too. She insisted I pay for the first bill. I said cancel and I am not paying anything.

  60. Larry says:

I was charged also and was lucky enough to catch it in 2 months, they said my wife signed up they had our name and tel number and adress right but my wifes birthdate was off around 20 yrs and the month and day also, I turned them into the utilitys board but it seems that they cant do anything I am still pushing it I just wonder how many people there is out dont realize it ?
My wife wears a size 3 and has no use for a diet !!
this is absurd that anyone could put a charge for a diet onto your phone bill which is complicated enough
it is obviously a scam taking advantage of the consumer,
When they hit you for a diet on your phone bill and put
    United Tel,LLC
for the charge it seems like it is a phone service !!!
    findyourdiet.com
    billed as
    United Tel,LLC
    Somthing sure Stinks!!!

  61. Jack Browning says:

Just like all the rest I found this last month but thought the wife might have ordered. I waited for the next month and found it again. Wife did not order. Talked to United Tel and was given a conformation number that from the looks of the other letters is fake. Will check next month for it to go away. Was asked if I wanted a Caribbean trip for my troubles though. Said NO Thanks.

  62. Joan says:

My husband was paying our ATT bill on line and did not notice this $14.95 charge on the bill. We were billed for it for 7 months before we discovered it. I called 866-576-4135 which is supposed to be “customer service.” I gave them our telephone number and they told me my husband signed up for “Findyourdiet.com,” which is BS, because he would never sign up for something like that. They told me that they would stop charging my ATT phone bill and supposedly they will reimburse me for the 7 months of charges. They gave me a confirmation number and told me it would be credited back to my phone bill. I guess we’ll find out…I called ATT and had them block all “3rd Party Charges.” Why can’t you block these charges when you first set up your account? I didn’t even know ATT allowed 3rd parties to bill us on our telephone bills. It’s outrageous and it should be illegal. The 3rd party billers are obviously fraudulent, but I blame ATT for allowing them to bill us without notifying us of it. They are also a party to this fraud.

  63. Dane Wayne says:

    They got me too. $14.95.

As many other have, I called United Tel. LLC. and they told me the same B.S. about ordering the diet.com crap and I told the woman, “B.S. this is a scam.” She said she’d close the account and give me a partial refund. I said, “We’ll see about that.” and hung up. Then I called the telephone number on the upper right of the back page of my bill thinking it was AT&T only to learn it was that Click-scam Co. Funny how ATT hides these 3rd Party billing at the back of our bill and not up front with the rest of the charges. They are intentionally hiding them from us. The ATT guys said he’d give me a full refund within two billing cycles. Riiiight. Then I called AT&T and told them, “Hey are you working for me or what? How can you allow a third-party to bill me ON YOUR BILL for something I never asked for and hide the billing all by itself at the LAST page of the bill way past the billings up front?” The AT&T woman said, “We have to by order of the Public Utility Board in each State.” I researched that and found it was an un-truth. Guess who opened the door to this B.S. CONGRESS!! In 2008, in the so called spirit of increased competition Congress passed a Telecommunications Bill that allows these crooks to apply charges to our phone bills WITHOUT our consent FIRST. Can you believe that!!! OH boy, I just can’t wait for Gov’t Health Care, can you???

Write your Congress man. Just make a printout of this thread and write on it. STOP this Scamming. Include a copy of your bill where they have billed you.

Tomorrow I’m calling AT&T and I’m going to make it real simple for them. I’m telling them, “Look at my billings. I’ve done about $4,000.00 in business with you this year using your Cell, Internet, and home land-line services. Are you going to let these findyourdiet.com scam billing cost you all my business?” If they say, “There is nothing we can do.” I’m dumping them, right then. I’m not kidding. We HAVE to fight back. Otherwise, they will just sick it to us more.

All any of them understand is $$$$. Enough of us stop giving them our $$$$ and they’ll get the picture. You’ll see.

All of you.. Call them back. Tell ATT you give me the refund and YOU spend your time getting it from the scammers and if you’re not willing to do that close my account NOW. Yeah it’s a hassle for you but do you really want these people to stick it to you like that?

FIGHT BACK with who you do business with.

  64. Dane Wayne says:

    P.S.

I got my personal pronouns mixed up in my previous post. I’m just so mad!!!

I also got the Telecommunications bill date wrong. it was in 1998.

What I didn’t get wrong is FIGHT. Fight back.

  65. Jonna says:

what a shame all servies signed up with the telephone number has the same issue some people has to stop filling out surveys prizes and that crap and do not accept any offers

  66. Cynthia says:

Well, I got the surprise this month on my AT&T bill. I thought what to heck is this. Called the company, told them it was unauthorized, and they said it was cancelled and may take two to three billing cycles to be refunded. This is serious FRAUD. I will be calling my phone company next.

  67. Bobbie says:

Add me to the list of mad-beyond-belief customers. They gave me the same song and dance story about my husband must have ordered it – couldn’t have hit me at a worse time, because my husband died last month. Until I found your site, I was seriously wondering how I was going to prove my husband did not have a secret desire to lose weight (a bad joke since he had been diagnosed with a stage IV cancer for 14 months and didn’t give a fig how much he weighed). It did give me someone to hit with all my pent up anger!

  68. James says:

I had this charge on my AT&T bill in Sept. Called AT&T, got the standard answer, “nothing we can do, We have to do 3rd party billing, Call HBS.” HBS gave me the number for Findyourdiet.com. I had no problem getting the $14.95 credit , but no luck in getting an answer on how I signed up for this service. BTW, I had just lost 45 pounds during cancer treatments. Didn’t need a diet.
I’ve reported this on a couple of other sites, each time I see someone who obviously works for the findyourdiet.com thats says it’s all our fault for doing surveys or entering sweepstakes. I’m talking about you Jonna! I hope whe these people are eventually caught Jonna get a big mean sex-crazed cellmate.

  69. Trudi says:

I noticed a $14.95 increase on my Emarq bill, called customer aservice and they said I had a 3rd party charge from United Tel (800-879-4653) I called this # and they told me I had signed up for a monthly service for “Find your diet.com” I told them this had to be a fraud, I knew nothing about it. She said I had authorized and requested this service. I asked for my $ back she said she could not do that but would cancel my “membership” I told her this was a scam and she hung up on me. I just signed up for a Class action law suit. It’s not so much about the $14.95 but the principle of the thing and how this can happen?! Glad I noticed it right away. Scary

  70. Peggy says:

I had the same thing happen to me. I’m with AT&T, but the 3rd party biller is HBS. AT&T is going to dispute the claims, but I told them that I was tired of getting these extra charges, this happen to me before in May & June with ILD teleservice, & I already have long distance service on my phone. They should change the law and make these people verify more than an address!!!

  71. Sally says:

We were charged for findyourdiet.com and we didn’t sign up, neither had we ever heard of this company. AT & T would not remove the charges, so we called find your diet, and they actually said they would send the money to AT & T for the three months we have been trying to rectify this scam. Thanks Crystal for your help @ Find Your Diet. We are done with AT&T. Cancelled our home phone. AT & T has a blanket statement on their bill about charitable donations being on their bill. I don’t think findyourdiet.com is a charity.

  72. Mobriquets says:

i got my bill last evening wondering y it was so i high… when i looked at the details i had the same charge from ILD services(findyourdiet.com) never heard of them nor did i sign up with them… Im not paying this for sure now its for me to have it out with both companies i will let you all know the outcome….

  73. steph says:

Same as above — 14.95 for findyourdiet. HBS gave us nothing; since info matched, we have to pay. AT&T immediately blocked charges, but we’re responsible for this one. FURIOUS!!!!!

  74. Norman Gambill says:

I was billed for $14.95 on my AT&T bill this for Find you Diet. I called the 1-887-547-8642 and the lady said she will refund my money and block any further charges. Will wait and see if this happens. What a rip off.

  75. Claire Davenport says:

    Charged without authorization.
Called phone Co. will block other charges.Have to pay this one.Unfair

  76. Jeannie says:

Same story as it appears most people told here. I think this is happening through facebook, you click on an add to see what it’s about and it asks for your name, email, phone number or it asks you to register perhaps, then it bills your phone number. This has happened to me on a couple different occassions and I call demand a refund and cancelation, they do it. I am thinking about ending my service for my home phone anyway and if this happens again I will. They say when you click on the term and conditions, etc you are agreeing to the charges . . I don’t remember clicking yes on terms and conditions and it had to happen so long ago I can’t even remember what I was looking at . . I will not ever enter my phone number on anything again and I have stopped clicking on any adds while on facebook or the internet. The whole thing and the way these people are doing business is shady at best and makes me so angry. I do not understand how AT&T wants to associate with these types of practices unless they are getting a healthy kickback. With so many people doing automatic bill-pay, etc. I am sure some people are paying it and don’t even realize it. I am sure that is what they count on! Very disappointed in AT&T . . this has happened to me with more then just Find your Diet, there have been a couple others so I am sure there are many. So shady and underhanded!

  77. christina says:

yet another story of unauthorized charges with find your diet and At&t, are they in business together? They don’t even require any proof that the phone number is yours or you have the right to add charges to the phone number. SCAM!!!!!!!!! And when you call the tel, llc they will tell you that their computers are down and you should call back, really everyday, seems like some people may be spared charges while their computers are down .

  78. Christie says:

I just checked my phone bill and had the same charge from findyourdiet.com. They said that my husband authorized the charges. My husband’s name is not on the phone bill. I told the representative that I was not paying the charges. They are giving me a one time credit. This is definetely a major SCAM.

  79. James A Murphy says:

Ok people, here we go again!2 months ago I was (as many) fraudently charged a service from OAN,all of that has been taken care of as of 12/16/2009.Now,today I received my new phone bill and have another fraudulent charge from a company called”United Tell,LLC findyourdiet.com monthly”! This charge is 14.95 and when I called the phone number provided on my phone bill the lady would NOT tell me her company name but she would give me credit for this month & told me that I was being charged for Jan 2010 also.I was able to get these charges reversed and put another 3rd party block through AT&T.The lady (Ami) from AT&T was very friendly and even made jokes about the charge which made me feel so much better after talking to this other lady from the HBS Billing Services(The were billing for this fraudulent;findyourdiet.com).I’m providing what I found about this unauthorized service for all:Registration Service Provided By: Enom, Inc

These people must be stopped!! Please check your monthly phone bills for these scams.I want to thank AT&T rep(Ami) for making my day and helping me out.Hope this helps out others who are scammed. We as consumers need to do more to have these people quit scamming what little money most of us have. Thanks for the time and the ability to post this problem/rant.Have A Great Christmas & a Better New Year James

  80. Dave in Las Vegas says:

Ditto….also received a charge for $20 CMI Exclusive Mo Svc Fee which, according to the moron on the other end of the telephone, is a social networking site???? I asked this person to verify the information that used to “sign up” for their supposed service and they had a bogus email address which someone had set up at Yahoo.com. Here’s an idea folks. If you have high speed internet access through your cable company cancel your landline with Qwest, AT&T or embarq and signup for Vonage or simply use your cell phone. This is nothing more than “Legalized” extortion. I would also make your senators and representatives aware of this practice as soon as possible so that they may actually do something “helpful” before we start voring them out in 2010. Okay….I’m getting off my soap box now. Happy New Year….

  81. Barbara Andrews says:

Got the 14.95 chg for Findyourdiet thru UnitedTeleLLC on ATT bill. Att finally (said) they’ll credit it back but will take up to 2 months. This type scam is ripping us off blind, Companies like ATT should not be allowed to charge 2nd party services on our bills. This can be changed if the account holder calls ATT, waits thru horrid “music” for eons, & stops this practice. It should be the other way around. *Large corporations should not charge us for seperate entity services with no authorization from us dierectly, or maybe at all. Who does it save or make money for there? No where to turn without some high mass time investment either.

  82. DON says:

If you EVER get a charge from UnitedTEL, LLC remember to ask when it was started and DEMAND don’t ask DEMAND all of that to be credited back to you also tell them to put you on the DO NOT BILL LIST. You may want to call back and check to see if it all went through. DENY THE FREE CRUISE THEY OFFER YOU.

  84. Angela McRoberts says:

We were billed for the same this month and was billed for another service in Nov. and Dec. I think it is all the same company. They did take the charge off but the woman was VERY hard to understand and kept saying it was a legitimate charge and we should have got an email. Well when I went into the old email I no longer use because it gets slammed really bad with spam, the welcome email was there. We get the spam because my husband used to sign up for surveys and money making kits and all of that kind of stuff using that email account. That was around 2 years ago and I see that find your diet has been scamming for at least a year, so they are not getting caught. I am about ready to get rid of our land phone and just use our cell phones and just be very very careful of who we give info to. The cause of it all is the internet which has been making me angrier and angrier all the time. Those criminals will all burn in hell that’s for sure.

  85. DONDONDON says:

TO THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE ANY!!! AND I MEAN ANY!!! CHARGE ON YOUR PHONE BILL NO MATTER HOW FAR BACK IT HAS BEEN CALL ASK THE DATE OF SIGN UP ASK FOR ALL MONEY BACK FROM THE START TO THE FINISH ASK TO BE PUT ON THE DO NOT BILL LIST TELL THEM AHEAD OF TIME YOU DON’T WANT A FUCKING CRUISE AND OH YEA TELL THEM TO GIVE YOU A CHECK WHO WANTS MONEY CREDITED TO THEIR PHONE WHEN THEY CAN HAVE THEY’RE OWN CHECK. DEMAND IT EVEN IF THEY SAY THEY CAN’T CREDIT DEMAND!!! IT THEY WILL GIVE IT TO YOU TRUST ME I WAS ONE OF THE SOULLESS PPL WORKING FOR THEM ONCE

  86. LAURA says:

I found this charge on my home phone bill that i did not order or have idea how it got there. It looks like another thef is on the internet and at&t just goes right along whit them.I will be getting rid of at&t home phone and hope that somone gets the scammers out there.

  89. Courtney says:

I had the same thing happen, only the charge said it was under my name on my parents phone number. I am so angry that this kind of scamming is happening to many, many people and nothing is being done to stop them.

Unlike other people, when I called the number listed, the woman was very polite and immedietly canceled the “account”. She said she would send a check that we could send to the telephone company to cover the charge. We will see if it happens.

  90. Amanda says:

Opened our bill from Century Link (formerly Embarq) today to find the same charge as others from the “diet” company.

This is the second time in six months we’ve had fraudulent charges. This time when I contacted Century, they had no problem blocking 3rd party charges. We’ll see, I guess.

It’s ridiculous, how a so called company can get away with this! I will contact our state attorney general and the FCC also, just because I’m sick of extra charges on my bill.

We did not sign up for these services, therefore I refuse to pay for them. The only thing I am required to pay are the actual charges for the phone & service.

  91. Dennis says:

I called CMIprofiles.com and had my $20 unauthorized charged refunded today. they said i would see the refund on my March Embarq bill. Just like everyone else, I did not sign up for this service and yet they were able to bill my phone. SCAMMERS! If you have that problem, here is their number
    1-800-879-4653
    Good luck to all

  92. Mad Man Max says:

I am just floored at the continued thievery that continues to plague our innocent need for service. My phone bills have been running high each month for several months I discovered that findyourdiet.com someway put my number into their billing and collecting 14.95+TX at my expense. I called the local phone company requested Demanded to go up the food chain with this and I got a refund for 4 months prior that these numbskulls bilked from me. Thank You AVIS…

  93. Teri says:

These guys got me too. I called the company and they cancelled my “account” which I had never opened or authorized, and after some hemming and hawing, agreed to give me a credit for the charges.

The rep at AT&T said she gets scores of calls about this and other crammers every day. She put a third-party block on my number, but we still have to be vigilant.

I cannot believe that this is not illegal.

  94. C. White says:

I have the same story as everyone else. I called after I saw the 1st bill. UnitedTel cancelled but refused to refund the first month since I supposedly used it.
Since they are based out of NY I wrote the Attorney General’s Office. They have an open case for me. maybe everyone else should to.

  95. Tracy says:

Two monthly fraudulent charges on my Verizon bill. Both were billed through the scam company – UnitedTel, LLC. One was for a voice mail service and the other for 247mp3s.com
I found out they were registered through the website mysweepstakesgiveaway.com – which I know better than to trust. Unbelievable!

  96. Larry says:

I opened a case in Iowa and they dropped it because they seemed to have moved to other states, Poor Excuse I Think,
But for every one of us who has caught it on there phone bill there may be a thousand who have not Like some of the Elderly and how long have they been getting taken advantage of?
    It is definitly stealing !!!

  97. L says:

I just had the same fraudulent charges appear on my bill. I wrote the customer service from the website listed above and demand they remove my number from their system. I’m going to attempt at a refund from Century Link. I also filed a complaint against them with the FTC. Not only did I have THIS charge, I had ANOTHER $15 charge for something called streamingflix.com. WHAT?!?!?!

  98. jimmy says:

Changed their name to dietbootcamp.com and charged $14.95 to my verizon bill.

  99. Edwin Guiang says:

I found out findyourdiet.com has been charging my phone account for 2 months. Problem is I’m on paperless billing and it just so happened that I was curious about my bill. I called the 1-800 # and the rep agreed to cancel my account immediately. She said my wife signed up for the service on the internet (which my wife vehemently denies) and that she provided her name, phone # and address – which of course anybody can find on the phone book! I am about to contact Verizon to complain about them.

  100. Kevin says:

This is not a complaint. I actually signed up with dietbootcamp.com and actually enjoy the service! Everyone on here is crying that someone can find there Name ,phone # and address and they can fraudulently bill you. Not possible! I needed name, address, zip, state, credit card # and the last 3 digits on the back of the card. So either someone random stole your info from another online purchase, or someone in your family really signed up. These companies have 14.95$ plastered on there sign up pages, it is not hidden anywhere.

I have made hundreds of online purchases online and have never gotten fraudulent charges EVER!

  101. Tracy R. says:

Wow, I am on paperless billing and autopay and just discovered that these crooks were costing me $15.70 for 7 months. They said I signed up, and when he read the email address they had for me, it was totally phony. I refused to give him any accurate info, just asked him to cancel my account. How does a company get away with this??!!

  102. Justin S says:

I just got billed fraudulently for 5 months for two things: $14.95 a month for ‘online diet’, which is the same as diet boot camp, and another $14.95 a month for ‘voxbox’. When I called to investigate, I found both services were signed up for with the email address g_aldridge@yahoo.com, an address I have never used before. I think maybe someone in this company is creating fake accounts with fake email addresses to make it look like they’re subscribing people.

Fortunately, both companies agree to refund all the money I’d paid through verizon automatic billing for the services. Hopefully those payments will actually arrive, but you never know with these charlatans.

I also called verizon, and told them to block all signups for 3rd party services. So this can’t happen anymore.

Kind of violates the trust we have when we sign up for automatic bill payment. Shame on verizon for abetting these criminals.
