I have been hit twice by HB Billing. Once in October which I am just now clearing up off my phone bill and when I pulled up my telephone bill today, I was hit again. This is ridiculous.

  2. Shera says:

ESBI has been charging me for 10 months and will not refund nor will my phone company! I did not order or allow what now?

  3. Milton says:

2/4/09 Talked to a employee Name LOURDES very rude, very nasty in her way of given you information, yelled at me on the phone, first time I have ATT&T service and I was billed by USBI for services I did not ordered, someone called in Spanish and had who ever answerd the phone SAY ok I am the only one authorized in the account. This has to STOP

  4. Milton says:

Lourdes of USBI should be fired for the way I was treated onb the phone, just beacuse I asked a Question

  5. Chris Baker says:

Had an unexplained charge of 14.95 show up on my bill for January with no description. called the number given 1-800-879-4653
and was told by a recorded voice that I could not be transfered to a customer service rep and to leave a message with my account number and telephone number where I could be reached

  7. Jami says:

I get many bills in the mail, my husband is supposed to open them, look them over and hand them over to me. I then put them in order and pay according to date. I dont LOOK at them like I do now. I found my ATT bill slowly go up from about $30 a month to almost $60. I looked at my charges and found HBS services for something called findyourdiet.com. It was an additional $14.95 a month. I called to question what this was. The woman on the phone said it was a diet plan online where you can download recipies, I stopped her right there and said to cancel. My husband nor I ordered this service. I also had a charge for $8.60 from ILD telecommunications, for services provided by mybillingguys.com. Apparently I was being charged for a voice mail service I hadn’t ordered. I was charged a set up fee back in Sept 08 of $8.70, then every month after that, $8.60 a month, skipped two months, then right back to charging me $8.60. Sneaky bastards nickel and dimeing me, squeezing the juice out. I called and cancelled that too. I am going to call ATT and insist they do not add any services to my bill unless they themselves contact me and get my ok. Im sure nothing will happen, Im sure these bastards will fraduantly add their shit to my bill. well, I caught on and am now reading every bill. Hubby missed it, so did I. No one is to blame but us..we didnt look at it and question.

  8. Eric Dennis says:

On 5/5/09 I received my phone bill with a charge of $14.95 from a (HBS Billing Service) not only have I never heard of this company, I surely never subscribed to them.
When contacting to resolve the issue I spoke to very rude representative who claims I signed up for this outrageous service leading to the charge.
she not only refused to reimburse these frivolous charges she basically told me there was nothing I could do about it; in my opinion be this is internet robbery

  9. Marcia Brown says:

This I found out had been happening to me since March of this year. I was stunned to find out that neither AT & T, nor HBS billing wanted to credit my account for something I NEVER signed up for. AT & T made sure to say it isn’t their problem since they aren’t the company billing. But you know what they are responsible in the fact that they should at least block these crap charges after being told by the client that they are erroneous charges. I did however call HBS billing and spoke with them telling them that they need to credit my phone account for the past three months and BLOCK that charge. They argued at first saying they could credit me the recent charge but not the past charges, well after arguing back forcefully enough they credited me (so they say) we will see in 2 billing cycles if they actually do that.

  10. Scott says:

On 6/5/09 I received my phone bill with a charge of $14.95 from a (HBS Billing Service) not only have I never heard of this company, I surely never subscribed to them.
When contacting to resolve the issue I spoke to very rude representative who claims I signed up for this outrageous service leading to the charge.
she not only refused to reimburse these frivolous charges she basically told me there was nothing I could do about it; in my opinion be this is internet robbery. Also, what does a Dietary company have to do with phone services? Because that is who is scamming us!

  11. Craig Campbell says:

After being billed by Enabill, I filed a complaint with the Iowa State Attorney General. Just received a report that Evabill has agreed to pay the state a fine of $500.00, refund all money collected from Iowa citizens cease and desist from further cramming in Iowa. Undoubedly that counterfiet New York attorney cost them more than that.

  12. Monica Banks says:

I too was charged twice. The second time was for some diet. Fortunately, each time I talked to someone they were pretty nice. They are crediting my account again. This is a complete rip off and there should be a way for AT&T to block them. There has to be a way of stopping this crap. If it happens again, I’m changing my phone number.

  13. Cynthia says:

Have been getting charges EVERY month from various billing companies. This one was the latest. I called and they are crediting me back. Unfortunately, my old employer never deactivated my email account, so now someone is using that to keep ordering services for me. Because the person still has my password, they are able to confirm the orders after they make them. I have called my previous employer over and over and told them to deactivate the account, but they still haven’t. FYI, everytime I call the billing companies, they each confirm that the order was made with that same email account.

  14. Tracy says:

Was hit twice by Unitedtel-Finyourdiet.com for $14.95 each month. Called and they asked my name. When I told them, they immediately said the other name on my account authorized the charge (my wife). She swears she did not and I believe her. The rep was nice and said they would be refunding my money within the next billing cycle. She also said they would add my number to their list so no more of their charges could be assessed without written approval. I said wonderful. What a scam! I tried to get the phone company to block third party billing without my authorization and they said I could not since my cell phone and home phone are together (combined billing).

  15. Juanita says:

I noticed that my bill was WAY higher than it should be. I looked carefully through the details and noticed the HBS charge of 14.95. I called AT&T and told them i have no idea what it is and I didn’t authorize it. The lady took off the charge and gave me 2 months’ credit off my bill

  16. R says:

I didn’t notice that I was being billed since Dec. of 2008 until now for 14.95 by united tel – findyourdiet.com through HBS billing services without my permisson. at&t rep was very kind and gave me 6 months back credit due to this company. I called this fraud of a company and told them to take me off and I never ordered anything. The funny thing is they had my address to my house also which is very creepy besides part of my email address. I’ll see if they continue but NOW I will look more closely at my bill..this particular company owns other websites like clickspark.com, united tel., findyourdiet.com and music etc. to name a few. They are frauds so be aware!

  17. Kenneth Neal says:

They hit my sister with fraudulent charges using my name. Hell I need to gain weight. Hit my sister for 3 months.

  18. Carole says:

A charge for $14.95 appeared on my July AT&T statement. I called the customer service number provided, talked with a very nice lady who assured me the charge would be removed. She said I should pay it and would be reimbursed in one to two billing cycles. I didn’t follow her suggestion and paid just my regular monthly phone bill and I included the sheet containing the information along with the name of the representative with whom I spoke. It’ll be interesting to see what my next bill shows.

  19. Carole says:

Would someone please pass along the phone number to findyourdiet.com. This is the same charge that appeared on my phone bill and I would like to talk with someone. Thanks.

  20. Judy says:

I was also charged for this service for 2 months without being aware of it. I talked to a couteous employee who promised my account would be credited for the 2 months. I was reimbursed this month on my bill, but as I was balancing my checkbook, I noticed an auto withdrwal for $12.00 from-you guessed it- hbs, listed as hbs books. too much of a coincidence to not be the same people. Now they are into my bank account, I think. Scarey!

  21. Cheryl says:

I am sooo mad! I have been paying my AT&T over the phone cause the darn website always locked me out. I have been hit with
    $169.00 from ESBI
    $79.16 from OAN
    $44.85 from HBS
over the last year (now that I have gone back and looked at all the old bills)
Ohhh I will be calling in the morning and if AT&T cant help well I guess its back to time warner!

  22. Kathy Bell says:

I too received my phone bill with a charge of $14.95 from a (HBS Billing Service). I, like the others, had never heard of this company, I surely never subscribed to them. They said my brother who resides with us authorized it. However, my brother’s name is no where on my telephone bill. How can his authorizing something show up on MY bill!! I finally spoke to a specialist who agreed to reverse the charges…let’s see if this occurs.

  23. Carole says:

This might be helpful for everyone. I sent an email to AT&T telling them about the unauthorized billing. I asked them to put a third party billing block on my number and they added that feature effective the day after my email.

  24. Kathy Bell says:

Thanks Carole, my husband did the same thing. Yes, this is very helpful.

  25. Barbara J Blaylock says:

I usually pay attention to the rising costs of our monthly bills. I didn’t until this month when I brought up a view of the paper bill from AT&T. There was a charge of $14.95 that I did not authorize from HBS Billing Services for United TEL,LLC-Findyourdiet.com. I NEVER subscribed to this nor did my husband. I called AT&T, they said they didn’t put it on there, then why did they allow it? I call the company and they said, Oh, well someone ordered it from your phone number. I said, that could have been someone from your company. They said they would take off one month’s and credit it to our next month bill and cancel the subscription. How do we stop hackers, spammers, now that they are allowed to just go into anyone’s computer, hack information and submit charges on a public phone bill and get away with this. I have been charged since 01/01/09!

  26. Bobby Clement says:

They charged me also, unitedrel-findyourdiet.com. I will call my phone service provider tommorrow and see what happens. Thanks for this website that let me know it is not just me.

  27. Carole says:

For Barbara Blaylock: To stop this sort of thing, ask for a third party billing block to be put on your account. I have AT&T and there is no charge for this service.

  28. Sylvia says:

I get my AT&T bill emailed to me and I usually don’t check it, but something told me to this time. It was for $78. My bill is never that high. I had charges for HBS and ILD. I talked to someone at HBS who was very friendly and come to find out, they’ve been charging this mess to me since March. ILD was automated, so I spoke with no one, but I did receive a confirmation number. How can you stop unauthorized charges to your phone??

  29. Carole says:

    For Sylvia:

Ask your phone company to put on a third party billing block. Why they allow the charges in the first place is a mystery but the block solves the problem.

  30. Rosebud says:

We are a business and have been scammed by these people. REPORT THEM TO YOUR STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL’S OFFICE!

  31. Albert H. Bartelson Jr. says:

Dear Sirs, My mother has been getting $15 per month added to her phone bill, due to an unautherized charge. She is 86 years and has no computer. noone has authorized it. what should I do?? My mothers name is Beverly Bartelson, and the phone# is xxx-xxx-xxxx. Thank you in advance for your assistance

  32. derak hicks says:

i opted out on the phone services and i’m still getting charged for the services thru my phone carrier. when will they stop charging and will i be reimbersed for the charges paid?

  33. Erika says:

I just viewed my bill today and I saw a $14.95 charge from HBS Billing Services and right away searched for it on the net. And I am shocked to see that this is a scam. I talked to my phone company about charges from third parties because I have been charged before from other long distance carrier, and now this. This is ridiculous and it has to stop.

  34. Michael Waller says:

I went to pay my AT&T phone bill on-line and found this charge on my bill. I know no one in my household ordered the services of UNITEDTEL-FINDYOURDIET.COM. I am contacting AT&T and HBS to resolve this problem. How has this being going on for so long?

  35. Amy says:

Opened October’s bill from AT&T and in the back was a charge from HBS for 14.95(ESAFE ID, INC-ID THEFT PROTECT SVC MTH). Called HBS and I was very unpleasant and verbly abusive to who answered. Since they are open till midnite, I thought, why not vent, lol(called them and cuss’em @ 1-877-768-3660. Calling AT&T tomorrow and then Indiana ATTORNEY GENERAL’S OFFICE. F@#$ these thieving bastard!

  36. Jon says:

My Sept. bill from AT&T contained an $89.00 charge from HBS Billing Services. AT&T is willing to waive the charge, but nobody at HBS will answer the phone! AT&T is trying to call them directly and can’t get through either. Why can’t obvious thieves like this be shut down by the law? My time is worth too much to sit and try to deal with these losers. They are the moral equivalent to computer hackers and should be prosecuted.

  37. Jackie says:

I too rec’d a $14.95 charge on my Oct 2009 bill from the findyourdiet/HBS company. Cannot get a hold of anyone just automated service. AT&T will credit the charges but when I mention’d changing phone companies even though I have been been with them for 20 years and have never paid a bill late they said that the same thing would or could happen with any other phone service provider as they would also allow this to happen, they also said I could not change my services until the credit was applied…..My daughter-in-law says that it appears that AT&T may be selling people numbers to this company and they are utlizing them in this manner. I trully belive that this may all trace back to AT&T and they are responsible for all of this, especially since all these charges are coming in through AT&T’s billing and not any other phone service provider!!!!!! Basically AT&T is the common denominator and maybe the focus needs to go to them.

  38. Lillian says:

I also had a charge added to my At&t bill I never ok’d. It’s been going on for over a year and tele co says they can’t stop them. I always get the cost taken off but I am sick and tired of having to call every month about this PHISING CRAP. I called the P.U.C. tThey said sorry but IT IS LEGAL! for theses Co’s to do this. It is our responably to check ALL bills to see if they are correct and follow through…So much for government!!!

  39. richard flamm says:

Same as John. I got billed $35.00 by HBS. ATT agreed to credit my account, but warned that HBS might “come after me in collections” and said I had to contact HBS. I called HBS and got a message saying they weren’t accepting calls. Curious that ATT thinks it has no responsibility (or liability) for what shows up on their bills.

  40. Heidi Carter says:

I guess I am lucky, I only got billed 14.95 on my Att bill.
Who are these people? I don’t even have a home phone number it is my internet and cable!

  41. Kathie says:

I got a $20 charge from someone called “Headwind Media INC” Via a billing service called HBS Billing. I called, and after several disconnects and trys to get through, I got through to someone at Headwind, and they cancelled and gave me a cancellation number. The man on the phone said someone using an email address I have not had in 5 years used my phone number and address and signed up for some stupid social networking site, charging my PHONE for the money. I think this should be illegal. The person making the request does not have to prove who they are by using a credit card or anything. Anyone who has my email address (even an old one) and my address and phone number can sign up for these stupid things and I suddenly get a charge. This is bull crap, and needs to be changed.

  42. Stephanie Morris says:

I also had a $20 charge on my ATT home phone bill from Headwind Media. I called, and after much arguing agreed to cancel the subscription. I was told I had to pay the current charge to ATT or I would be subject to late fees. They said my account would be credited in 1 TO 2 MONTHS! I called and complained to ATT. They actually told me that if this company verified the last 4 digits of my husband’s SS#, that they could bill me for this charge. They did tell me I could have 3rd party billing blocked from my phone.

  43. Chuck says:

Carol # 23 on this list , AT&T are not allowed to put a third party block on your billing . I just talked to the head of our local AT&T Dept.(Northern Calif.)and was told that AT&T can NOT Put third party blocks on their billings because of the PUC . AT&T is FORCED to do the third party billing . Like all of you I have been fighting with AT&T and HBS Billing now since the first of the year . So far AT&T has been VERY Helpful as been HBC inb reversing all charges . BUT I have had to deal with this EVERY MONTH and it is getting old . There has to be sometihng WE as People can do . Anyone know a Producer from one of the News Shows ? We can sick them on HBS and get to the bottom of this . WHERE Is 20/20 when you need them ? OH they are setting up MEN in Sting Operations . WHATEVER YOU DO , DO NOT GIVE HBS OR ANY OTHER THIRD PARTY BILLING ANY OOF YOUR INFO i.e SS # , Birth Dates , Checking account # .

  44. Carole says:

I have not had another problem since I talked with an AT&T representative and was told they would do a third party billing block. Maybe things are different from state to state – I just know my problem was solved.

  45. Dorothy says:

I don’t know where Headwind Media got my personal info, they used it to charge my mother’s phone bill, I don’t have a phone in my name anywhere, I use my mother’s number because I am my mothers Live-in Aide so naturally I use her phone number. My mother lives on a fixed income so the least change in her bills she notices, neither she nor I would sign up for such a thing. I’m 60 and she is 85, we do not listen to rock music and, who is Jesse McCarthy, never heard of him and would definately no charge $20.00 to my phone if I had one, and wouldn’t think of charging it to my Mom’s phone. What I really want to know is how can this happen to so many people, doesn’t the phone companies know this is bogus, why don’t they stop it? Why don’t they contact their customers before they apply these charges to there bills. I really don’t understand. Anyway, I finally got in touch with Headwind Media a/k/a HBS Billing Svc, my brother had already cancelled the transaction for me, they gave me a cancellation confirmation number, they told me I would be sent an e-mail confirmation also, sp far I haven’t received it. People be careful filling out anything over the internet, the only way I can figure they got my info is from a SSI application I filled out on line or from my Income Tax I file yearly, these sites are suppose to be safe, obvisiously they are not.

  46. Alan says:

I was also charged $14.95 for some bogus web based diet plan. I spoke with ATT. The first operator hung up on me, the second was much more polite. She explained that ATT cannot stop these charges. I have filed a complaint with the FCC and am switching to Time Warner. I did get hold of HBS they claim they are issuing a refund. We will see. I am still switching to Time Warner. I will not use ATT as a service provider if they continue to work with HBS. On a positive note, my family is from Europe. We call Germany, UK and Spain. By switching to Time Warner I will make some big savings on my International calls.

  47. Rosaida says:

I just find out I was charged by HBS billing Services for 14.95. I called the 1800 811 5435 and they give me a cancellation number and they said they will credit it to my phone bill. My question is: How this people are able to charge your account with out verifying your name? How Verizon allow some one to charge your account with out verifying your agreedment? I think that the phone companies don’t care about it because they get profit out of the scam.

  48. Emily Fickle says:

Just got my AT&T bill. had $40.00 dollar charge for Headwind media on there. Don’t fill out any papers and don’t know haow they got my phone number, will call the phone company monday

  49. Lorraine Ryan says:

Just noticed 14.95 on At&T bill since January ’09. Checked BBB – 700+ complaints.

  50. Dennis says:

Headwind Media got me this month. Charged $20 to my CenturyLink bill. I called them, and they had all of my information. They had my SSN. I have only used my SSN online with the IRS, and SSN. They did cancel the billing, but I don’t trust them. I put a block on third party billing. Hopefully, that will stop any future hits.

  51. Bruce Vrana says:

Headwind Media charged me $20 – just got the e-mail bill from Verizon today. They said they would cancel the monthly billing, but I don’t trust them. Will call Verizon Monday to report the scam and ask about blocking third party billing. Then report to the FTC and my state AG. Great big waste of time.

  52. Mike says:

I’m another one who looked on their phone bill to find a $20 charge from HBS Billing services for something called CMI Exclusive? I never signed up for anything! I tried to call them but they just kept me on hold for 10 minutes. I’m going to file a complaint with the State AG. I missed it on my bill last month because I was moving, but caught it this one. There not getting another dime from me.

  53. G.J. Harmon says:

Go to http://www.ftc.gov/os/1998/07/hold2cmp.ct.htm This provides names of Federal Trade Commission lawyers in TX who have filed a complaint against HBS. Deluge them with letters of complaint and ask how similar complaints can be filed by FTC in your state. I have done this and sent a letter to the Federal Commuications Commision (FCC).

  54. G. D. Harmon says:

Are you in collusion with HEADWIND MEDIA, INC. and UNITEL TEL, LLC? Quite a large number of your complaints have identified these particular companies as having billed phone companies for services that were not ordered by them. I add my name to that long list of complainants.I did not purchase any services from either of these listed companies and do not intend to purchase anything from them. I feel that I was victimized by UNITEL TEL, LLC who charged me for that “Findyourdiet” gimmick. Both of these felonious charges have been challenged and I will not pay for them. I did not order them and do not want them. So stop already!

  55. Lara Simmons says:

Received a $20 charge on my monthly bill. I did get thru after 10 minutes on hold. They did have all of our information. The person on the phone was very helpful though and issued a refund.

  56. Phoebe says:

I never look at my verizon home bill, I were going to sign up for paperless too, i’m glad that i didn’t. Coz i looked at the phone bill today, i found there two miscellaneous charges in it. One is HBS ($20) and another one is cybertube.tv ($14.95). they made my bill going up!!!I will try to call verizon and discuss this isuss tomorrow morning. Hope that I don’t need to pay those charge.

  57. Chris says:

I too have had the same problems. I had $20 from Headwinds Media, findyoudiet.com 14.95 and voice mail 14.95. I called all and cancelled. Called AT&T and they gladly removed all charges, filed dispute for the charges and put a Third Party Billing Block on my home number. I also called the Attorney Generals office and requested forms for filing a complaint. This is obsurd. I asked them at findyoudiet. com how they got my info. and they said that it was a pop up on the web. Hmmm.. they have way too much info about me, Headwind wanted to know how may kids I have, my birthday, email address. I gave them nothing and none of them said they would credit my account just cancel it. The voicemail company was all automated…

  58. Adam says:

    Thank You!
I am not out of the thick yet, but at least this information has helped.

As of December 2009, I started receiving $20.00 charges on my Verizon account. Verzion (which is also AT&T if any is curious), claimed they were “unable to process my claim.”

    This is what I did:
    Called (888) 331-7031.

Entered: # . To contest phone charges.

Waited for a rep and provided only part of my information.

NOTE: Call center workers have access to ALL of your personal information; only provide enough to confirm they already have it. I have worked on data-bases; your phone number accesses your name, SS #, home address, and account information.

Requested the name and location of the representatives business. Write down the information they give you to confirm it later.

Was told the refund would come as a credit in 1 to 2 billing cycles. This is a nebulous policy. In 1 to 2 months, most people will forget about this.

Received, and confirmed with the rep, the confirmation number.

Hopefully, I can claim I was successful in March.

    Side Note:
There is a call-center in my home town, which employs a lot of people; my friends would tell me all of the information they had access to, as though they were proud. The people hired by call-centers are usually young adults (between 18 and 30). They are not well paid. Some can get jobs with a criminal record. Be careful not to irritate them.

  59. Anna E. Camden says:

I was billed several months ago on my ATT bill. It took several months to get the charge off of my bill. On our January bill here it is again HBS Billing services for $20.00. They informed me that I signed up for this service on Dec. 25, 2009. We were out of town with family and I was not near a computer that 3 day time period. I will not pay any money to this company.
Why can we not stop these companies from adding to our monthly bill ????

  60. David Sanders says:

I’ve been having charges of $14.95 to my phone bill, now for several months. My wife just discovered it. I have no clue what started this so called Streaming Flix charge. I’ve called 2 separate 800 ph. #’s yet this a.m., and sit wating to talk to a person. This website provided (taken right from my bill) will not even open for me!

  61. Jared Chandler says:

I received my AT&T phone bill and lo and behold there was a $20 charge for Headwinds Media on there. I don’t even know what that is I don’t even have a social networking account. It is robbery and AT&T is likely colluding with them. They will offer you a $9/month block on third party. I am refusing to pay this and if they don’t take it off my bill I’ll drop AT&T and go with Comcast phone.

  62. Gene Young says:

I recieved my monthly bill from AT&T and noticed several added charges on my bill, here they are.ILD teleservices,HSB billing services, and Transaction clearing,I dont know anything about any of these companys, but that they are RIPPING people off!!!!!

  63. C. says:

I had $20 charged to my bill for Headwinds Media. The guy was able to cancel the service but said they couldn’t refund the money because they “have to assume it is valid information” or some such thing–even though not all the information the guy gave me was valid. After fussing about it for a few minutes (I was as polite as possible), the guy put me on hold for a few minutes to talk to his supervisor then came back on and said that he could refund the service and provided a confirmation number (We’ll see if/when it shows up, I guess.). I don’t know whether this is helpful, but in any case — you can get a promise for a refund I guess if you get the right person on the phone and “play the game” correctly.

  64. Adam says:

After following the steps in post 58, the issue has been resolved. Unfortunately, it appears as though the charge reappeared after I cancelled it.

This is how ridicules this is:

    1) I call and cancel.
    2) I get the refund.
    3) My next bill has the charge I cancelled on the bill.

This means I received a $40 refund, and was charged $20 for their “service” in the same billing cycle after canceling.

  65. Mike says:

Same as all the rest. I just got refunds from ProFowers.com for a simiar ripoff called moneysaver charging $14.95 a month Went on for over a year before I noticed it on my Visa bill. Did get all refunded, but am curious to see what happens with this one when I call on Monday. I will attempt to contact the Ohio AG. This really sucks. Like I don’t have anything else to do.

  66. m german says:

I have been billed by HBS billing services twice on behalf of Headwind Media. The first time I thought it was just amistake, because they offered a credit right away. The second time they told me I had subscribed to a social networking place for 3 months on Jan 11, but when I told them I had not even been home on Jan11 to be online they said my husband had called on Jan 9 and I had called and cancelled on Jan10.
Didn,t even know about it until I got my phone bill on Feb 10. They deny cramming my bill, but will give me a credit since I cancelled within 24 hrs.

  67. Karen Krause says:

I just received my bill and i was billed for HSB Headwind Media not once but twice i would like to know what i can do abiout this problem because i did not sign up for this service i want this problem corrected if not this company so called headwind media will hear from my lawyer about this and i mean it

  70. Corey Kling says:

I was billed back in October of 09 from ILD teleservices,HSB billing services, got the charges refunded and put what i thought was a block on 3rd party services. Then streaming flix tried charging me this month. Anyone is allowed to check a box saying they are authorized to make changes on the phone bill as long as they have your phone number.

  71. Kevin M. says:

I’ve been paying my phone bill via direct debit for the last several years. When I was purging my files I noticed that I’ve been charged $14.95 each by HBS for findyourdiet.com and $14.95 by ESBI on behalf of Orbit Telecom for voicemail that I don’t have. I never signed up for either of these. When I contacted HBS I was told that I signed up on the internet in Nov. of 08′ but the email address they had on record wasn’t mine. The CSR had to go to a supervisor and I was promised a refund with a conf. number, but it would take a billing cycle or two to get it. I have a funny feeling I’ll never see it. I’m open to join any action or receive any input.

  72. Shauna says:

I have been charged $14.95 for seven months now by HBS for something called streaming flicks. Apparently, they are telling me that I am ordering movies to watch on my computer and whoever set this up, has my name, address, email and some kind of password between myself and the phone company. They have charged me over $100 in the past seven months and can only reimburse me $29.90. So ridiculus. I’m so mad. AT&T will now be recieving a heated letter from me and HBS will be reported to the BBB.

  73. John Doe says:

I turning this company into the FCC and FBI this is wrong and talking advantage of people!!!

  74. Robert Henry says:

I received a one time charge on my phone bill from HBS that I knew about in advance. However, AT&T did not tell me that the charge that I was knowingly being billed for was processed by a company outside of AT&T and also that the technicians working on the problem were employed by a third party company contracting with AT&T and that they were in fact not AT&T employees!

  75. K Giuliano says:

When asking Verizon to review why our bill has climbed monthly they uncovered charges from usbi that were never authorized by us We have contacted the FCC, Md FCC offices, and will contact the Attorney General if USBI doesn’t refund every penny including interest. The costs associated with this spam billing is the first issue and probably not the worst issue in the situation since our information and access to our information has been used by who for what reason(S)which leaves us feeling totally exposed. First steps towards identity theft? What’s crazy is that our bill with Verizon was so tight that as husband and wife for over 30 years I could not discuss our bill with Verizon until the account access was changed then it was changed to access restricted to my husband and myself so how could this of happened? CLASS ACTION SUIT, LITIGATION? count us in on this one tired of saying it’s not that big of a deal we’re mad we’re watching every penny these days and these people who won’t even answer their phone are sneaking around and taking it out the back door.

  76. j vale says:

my wife filled out an app for a job at abbott and gave the last 4 didgets of her social. Wrong on her part. We were billed $14.95 for 5 months for STREAMING FLICKS NO GOOD TV MONTHLY FEE. We never ordered it and when I called they were as rude and practiced as any con artists I’ve ever come across. I’m filing w/ the FTC and States Attorney’s office. ATT says that they can’t refund my money.

  77. pam wungnema says:

I was billed $14.95 from this company I know nothing about and never ordered. I’m calling them to cancel and then notify the state attoney general office. This company has to be stopped and put out of business.

  78. Rodney Mcdonald says:

My telephone bill arrived from century link and it showed a charge to hbs for no-good world at 14.95 I called and got a very rude person. I am still calling to see what can be done.

  79. Dotty Cronin says:

I just caught the 14.95 charge on my AT&T bill. Never seen before and never heard of HBS Billing. Called, spole to nice lady who said it would be cancelled and refunded, but I am still going to take Carole’s suggestion and call AT&T and ask for a 3rd party billing block.

  80. DW says:

A charge for $14.95 appeared on my March Verizon statement. I called the customer service number provided, talked with a very nice lady who assured me the charge would be removed. She said I should pay it and would be reimbursed in one to two billing cycles. Contact Verizon to have third party biling stopped and double check the privacy statement on who Verizon shares info with.

  81. Carole says:

    This is for DW:
If you haven’t already paid the $14.95, I would susggest that you don’t. Just pay your normal Verison charges. I was given the same advice when a charge appeared on my AT&T bill – I chose not to pay it. I also did a third party billing block and haven’t had a problem since.

  82. Thom says:

A miscellaneous charge of $14.95 for HBS was on my March Verizon Statement. I contacted Verizon and contested the charges, they removed the charge and put “Bill Block” on my account so that only Verizon can bill me via my Verizon bill.

  83. Sylvia says:

My mother called and told me she received a telephone bill over $90 and she said she noticed she had charges from Telecircuit USBI. Once I contacted the company, they said they had a record of my mother authorizing the charges. The record was in Spanish, they told to say correct for the questions they ask, like your name is… correct and my mother answered, next question that she was of 18 years..correct, next if she is authorized to the account..correct…next….does she has long distance..correct. They never told her directly that if she was authorizing them to change from AT&T to Telecircit USBI. Then as I spoke to a non-spanish speaker manager Susan. That my mother has agreed to the change. I told the manager how can she knows or understand what my mother is agreeing to if the manager doesn’t speak or understand Spanish. I started to tell her off in SPANISH and said translate that and she couln’t. Then it got ugly. She made it personal that she wasn’t going to refund the money. So again, I said ok let’s see if you understand this is SPANISH. I told her to shove her company far up her….butt. Then AT&T put a slammed locked on my parents phone and put the charges back to the company. This company is a fraud and everyone should write WASHINGTON about the scams they comment to the elderly.

  84. Timothy from Houston, TX says:

I just opened my phone bill from AT&T for May, and found a charge for $14.95 on it for a service I didn’t order or authorize. The service was ESAFE ID, INC.-ID THEFT PROTECT SVC MTH. So, I called the phone number for HBS Billing Service to find out why this was showing up on my phone bill. The person I talked to said I authorized it either from there website, or an affiliate website. I told them I didn’t and take it off my phone bill, that’s when they said they could only cancel the service, and did that and gave me a confirmation number. Then they had the nerve to tell me that since it was already charged to my phone bill I was going to have to pay it. That’s when I called AT&T and had them take it off my phone bill, and they also put a third part block on my phone number. AT&T told me that if it shows up on my bill again to call them and they will take it off. I don’t have time to deal with this, because I’m going to college studying to become a paralegal. Hopefully, what AT&T did will work.

  85. Carole says:

Timothy, I doubt you’ll have another charge on your phone bill. AT&T put a third party block on my number quite some time ago and I have not had a problem since.

  86. jody says:

I received a bill with mics. charges from HBS billing services and called them to inquire and they told me that some one else in my home had authorized the action. I told them that I was the only one allowed to make changes to my verizon account and they imediatly told me that they would refund the amount to my verizon account. The total amount would be 29.90 within 1 to 2 billing cycles. I ten called verizon back and had a 3rd party block added to my account. I think folks should go to jail for this kind of behavior as it is stealing.
    thanks, Jody

  87. C. Osti says:

I was charged $14.95 by HBS on my Verizon Bill for something called “Streaming Flix.” I never ordered this product or service. Until I get this settles, I had put a Third Party Block on my Verizon account to stop any further theft. I suggest everyone do the same.

  88. Alvin Bivings says:

This is the third time I have had
$14.95 added to my AT&T phone bill within a year. The first two refunded by credit to my phone bill but this last one by HBS was for a company I have never heard of; ESAFE ID INC-ID THEFT PROTECT SVC MTH, I called them at 877-768-3660 and was told by one Jermey that would not refund my money: ID theft protect indeed; they are the theives.
    Dayton, Nevada

  89. pvc says:

HBS is a rip off they tried to charge us 14.95 for some streaming flix crap also…they should be arrested…the crap they are doing is fraud…

  90. Dale O'Reilly says:

I just read all the other complaints about this company and now understand how i also was scammed!!! the $14.95 charge showed up on my Verizon phone bill as well. i have never heard of streamingflix.com nor would i ever order anything like this had i heard of it! i have been laid off for 15 months. i can barely afford food and utilities, much less crap like this. when i called streamingflix.com to complain, they said “as a courtesy, they would remove the May bill from being authorized and would cancel my order, but couldn’t do anything to refund me the $14.95 on my phone bill for April.” Verizon couldn’t do anything to remove it either. they suggested that i call back streamingflix.com and insist that the money on the phone bill be refunded to me. i did this and ‘amanda’ at streamingflix.com said that the order came from my computer, they traced my IP address to my computer and they would not refund the money even though i kept emphasizing that i had never heard of their company, would never order anything like this and said that someone from their company had to have fraudulantly populated the order form with my personal information that they got from another source. they said that once the phone number is entered on the order form, that constitutes an electronic signature. i am sooooo mad i could spit bullets!!!!!!!!!!! they should be ashamed to be taking advantage of people especially at this time of such a horrible recession. they are theives of the worst kind. how can we get justice and get our money back????

  91. Dale O'Reilly says:

i just decided to call back verizon and plead with them to help me. this time, the woman i spoke to GLADLY have the charges reversed. i also told her that i had investigated this company and found nearly 100 complaints on 1 website alone. hopefully we can run this company out of business.

  92. Eva Dimacali says:

I was billed $14.95 for 4 months by this HBS. I called up AT&T to block HBS from billing me through my phone bill. I also called HBS to ask them why they’re charging me for services I didn’t even order. The rep had the nerve to say that I ordered the service online and that this was legitimate because my name
and address match in their record!!! What the hell does that mean??? Anyway, this company need to be stopped already… And why are these companies not regulated anyway??? According to the rep I spoke with at AT&T, these third party companies cannot be stopped from charging any one of us.

  93. Smurph says:

I received my AT&T bill to find a charge of $14.95 from HBS Billing Services. Called their # and they said that it was a company call ESAFE. HBS put a block on my phone so that no other companies that they did business with would not add charges to my bill and connected me with ESAFE. I talked to a lady there that told me that I had requested their services on the internet (I did not) and that they had sent me an e-mail to confirm. I told her that I do not open e0
-mail from people that I do not know. They said that it was not their fault that I did not open my e-mail. She said that their records showed my name and my e-mail address was correct and that I owed them for the bill. I told her that any 4th grader with a computer can find info on the internet (like they did). She refused to refund my money till I asked her, “who should I call first? AT&T of the Attorney General? She then told me that they would refund my money. I then called AT&T. They removed the charge and put a Third Party Block on my phone. Hope this all works.

  94. Timothy from Houston, TX says:

Well, Carole guess what I got another charge of $14.95 from those basterds even with me canceling a service I didn’t order and having the third party block put on my phone. If I ever find the lawyer or lawyers that are handeling the class action lawsuit against the &*^^%$*$( #($*$^&@ people, I’m joing. When I called AT&T today they told me to just pay my phone bill and that they would handel the HBS problem. If this happens again I say since the company is located in San Antonio we all go down there and beat the ^&*$^% out of whoever is in charge.

  95. Timothy from Houston, TX says:

I went way overboard in my last post. We should all should not go down to their offices and beat the person in charge. We should just file complaint after complaint until they get sick of them and stop what they are doing. Sorry, I just got really peaved about what they are doing.

  96. Carole says:

    Hey Tim,
We all understand your frustration so there’s no need to think you went overboard. I’m surprised the third party block did’t work for you but it sounds like AT&T is going to take care of it for you. I wish someone would point us in the right direction so we could start writing or calling to put a stop to this. It sounds like going after individual companies isn’t the way to go – we need to find out what allows the phone companies to pass on these charges.

  97. Robert Henry says:

One thing that you can try to get at them without saying that this is why you are doing it is to simply forward all spam to their e-mail address. That will not do anything about the charges on the bill, but it might feel good to know that their e-mail address is being hit by every piece of spam that has ever gone to anyone that has ever been billed by them.

  98. Corey says:

    Tim, Carole,
I had a similar problem as Tim doing a 3rd party block with AT&T just to get charged from a different company through HBS. AT&T then tells me that the block was only for that one company and that they cannot block HBS billing itself. They did block the 4 largest companies this time but I think the carriers get money by letting these companies steal from us. Hence why they won’t put a block on all of them.

  99. Kelly Ray says:

Just discovered two months ago that we have had it on ATT bill for six months (husband paid no mind to it). I called the number and a recording said I need to call my phone service provider as they were the ones that posted the billing. I did that in June and the rep took off the charges. She said it was for some ID theft security.I told her we never requested. She adjusted our bill. It happened again this week. Talked to another ATT rep and she said they aren’t supposed to take these charges off because they are deductions made by third parties!!!???? Why would ATT allow these charges with seeing some consent/documentation from their customers? I am hacked and confused and smell lots of dirty rats. They owe us $90 bucks. I’m gettin it. BBB, FBI, AG…back up – I’m on my way…ATT needs some lesson as well!

  100. lynn says:

where can i call to cancel this billing from this cybertube.tv.llc

  101. Mark in Berkeley says:

Us too! Shame on HBS. They’re no better than the Liberian scammers. This should be a criminal matter. Send law officers to Austin, put the bastards in jail.

But AT&T is the real culprit here. This crime can’t happen if AT&T doesn’t disguise 3rd party bills as their own -same orange stripe at the top and bottom of each page makes it fit right in. What fees are they collecting from these 3rd party scammers for allowing them to prey on us? Why don’t they stop it when informed? AT&T needs to have their methods investigated, they should pay extra penalties to us all, and if there was any justice every one of AT&T’s corporate officers starting with the CEO and extending in a straight line through everyone of them responsible would do jail time. Too bad our government is so deeply in bed with corporations. This shouldn’t happen.

  102. William says:

HBS is active with their scam with Verizon as well as AT&T Led to beleive I was reviewing a thing called streamingflix and now being billed via Verizon phone bill for $14.95 which I will not pay. I feel there are elements of ID theft involved in this as well. never used service and did not think I was signing up for anything. This is a scam. Be very careful with anything that has HBS on it.

  103. carole says:

i never heard of this company and never order a video to watch that they claim that i did.verizon billed me 15.95.i refuse to pay and put a freeze on service charges.on ripoff page i file a complaint joining in on a class action lawsuit against this company

  104. nicole says:

i’m 22 years old and living with my parents still. they received the usual cable and phone bill today from verizon…however there were extra charges in the amounts of 14.99 and 19.99 from something called cybertube.tv….what was most shocking was that after the run around my dad got from the phone company and was finally given the number he could contact these people directly, they claimed that i had ordered this service! they had my email address and said i had given the house address and phone number that was to be charged! NOT TRUE…they did tell my dad that they would credit the account…however my parents were convinced that i had ordered something i had no business, so i decided to look this company up and i’m glad i found this webpage. it proves to my parents that there is something crooked going on.

  105. Michael Fox says:

Verizon just sold its Northwest landline business to Frontier, and on the first Frontier bill I received today, there were two monthly charges from HBS billing for Streaming Flix (total $29.90) I called to find out what this was, and was told that I had signed up online, that they had my form with a security question that only I could answer. Of course I had done no such thing; the customer service rep gave me a cancellation number and said that she would send me a copy of my order; also that I was responsible for the charges since I had ordered the service. I told her that I most certainly would not pay the charges, an answer I think she had heard before, because she said that was my decision. STREAMING FLIX IS A TOTAL SCAM.

  106. Kim W says:

Got my Verizon bill with a charge from HBS billling. This is the second time in 5 years that this has happened. Verizon said there is nothing they could do about it. Called HBS and told them to remove the charge because I never requested it. Called Verizon and canceled my phone service altogether. Done and done.

  107. Laura W says:

I just got my first bill from Frontier. I also had a misc. chearge of 14.95 from Streaming flix. When I called Streaming Flix She asked for my Phone number and then automatically started defending the company saying I did order their services and that I would have to pay the 14.95. My first question to her was, “How would you know the reason for my call, when I never said?”She claimed she knew why I was calling because it was on her computer as to why. I replied, “So your telling me your computer tells you what I am thinking in my head?” This so called company needs to be stopped. She did agree to cancel the service and credit me the 14.95. After talking with them I called Frontier and she tells me that they charged me in May also and that I needed to call them back and insist that they credit me for that month also. I did that and they claimed that they could not credit me that month until i looked over the order form of which they say I filled out. I demanded that they credit me immediatly, but they refused. Frontier suggested that I call them back int he event that they refused my credit, so i did and they thankfully credited me 29.90 and put in a claim for me and told em to call back in two billing cycles and put a third party block on my account. Streaming flix and all the other scamming companies MUST be stopped. I honestly do not know how these people sleep at night.

I DID NO SUCH THING AND WANT TO STOP IT BE FORE THEY START CHARGING THIS BOGUS PLAN ON MY BILL. THEY HAVE BOTH MY HOME AND MY CELLPHONE NUMBERS.. WHAT A STUPID MISTAKE I MADE, CAN ANBODY HELP ME TO STOP THEM.

  113. Elizabeth Bass says:

Last month I noticed a charge of $14.95 attached to my phone bill. I queried the number and was told that it was Uvolve, some kind of online University. I said I didn’t sign up and Ashley said yes, indeed I had. After repeated denials, I told her to cancel immediately, which she told me she would. Called my telephone company, the person I talked to seemed to have heard about this scam and he deducted the amount from my bill. Received my new bill yesterday and there it was again. Called the phone company again, and it was deducted again. I sent an email to Uvolve, did not receive a reply, so I have written a letter to them, registered so they’ll have to sign for it, and am sending copies to the FCC, which allows billing companies to attach these charges to our phone bills. Apparently, somebody in the billing company is not paying attention to the companies they are billing for.

  114. Sandy says:

I was charged on my AT&T bill $14.95 from HBS using something called EProtectID. I never heard of such of thing. I called them and raised HELL. They told me that I did subscribe to this and that I had to pay $14.95 this month but that they would cancel next month. I said “NO WAY, I DID NOT subscribe to this and WAS NOT paying it-I was really upset at this SCAM. I said I wanted to talk to a supervisor. Well, after spending about an hour on the phone YELLING, they said they would take it off. SO we will see next month – it better not be on my bill. PLEASE everyone check all your bills very carefully there may be charges on your bill that you shouldn’t have…….Let’s stop these SCAMMERS!!

  115. Ray Rose says:

USBI has been gouging my 73 year old mother for over a year. I recently to over her finances and found in addition to AT&T charges, they were charging her also for long distance. I spoke with AT&T about changing her plan, they inturn credited her account and two months and now USBI are telling us that we still owe them…..I called to remove them from account and they are still charging us.

She said I had to pay it but she would do me the great favor of removing the August 2010 charge from my next AT&T bill. I have an email in to AT&T but no reponse yet from them. 119. mar lang says:

billed by hbs billing services for streaming flix never authorized by anyone @ my place plus when you call their #877-768-3693 you get put on hold & you pay for that too! my phone company (verizon) won’t do anything either they tell you that you have to call them..well how do you get it off your bill when no one will pick up their end. this is a bunch of bull—-.

  120. Mar Lang says:

called streaming flix #877-768-3693 to get unauthorized 14.95 off phone bill you only get put on hold & you pay for that too! called hbs billing services 800-811-4535 they tell you that they can’t take it off either. then I called verizon & they tell me they can’t do it either. well all I have to say is this is a bunch of bull—-! just credit me back for july 28 bill.

  121. cherrie says:

I noticed a 14.95 on my telephone bill. When I contacted them they said I sent them 2 order confermations through email. When I asked for a copy of these they had the WRONG email. They then said I was being creditied since it wasnt even our email. I then found out they have been charging me for months up to almost 60.00. I pulled up my new phone bill today and what u know. They billed me AGAIN. I just called them. RUDE as can be. Insisted I oreded it.But they would not send me a copy of the comfirmation. They said I will still be credited. Makes me wonder how many people they rip off. That 14.95 adds up. With the economy the way it is today. I am very angry over this. Who is the HBS billing service???? I am so mad I cannot even think. Scam…… They should be thrown in jail for this…

  122. Mar Lang says:

this is 9/21/2010 & hbs won’t take the $14.95 off my bill/streaming flix still won’t answer their phone’s pls help us get this charge off our bills as they were not authorized by anyone

  123. Corey says:

I’m no attorney and have had my share of problems with HBS billing. The main thing to keep in mind when dealing with them is that they cannot legally charge you and have to take it off without a signature confirmation. They can and will lie to you and make you think that you have no recourse but to pay it, that’s how they make money from people. Last recourse I recommend is to threaten your phone company to switch services and I guarantee they will take the charges off and block HBS services. Worked for me at least. If they owe you money that you already paid, threaten to sue or go to the BBB. Another option is to simply tell them they person that signed up did not have authorization to alter your phone account. That made it easy for me when they showed that my wife signed us up. They didn’t argue whatsoever and credited my account.

  124. Mindy says:

Was about to pay my companies monthly phone bill. I noticed a charge of 14.95 from HBS, EPROTECTID.COM. I knew me or anyone else had authorized these charges. I called HBS & I did get an attitude with the man that answered the phone! I do not trust these people at all. He informed me that he would refund the charges so lets see if that happens! I also called at&t & got the third party blocker on our account. It makes me so mad how any company is allowed to do this. Someone real soon needs to put a stop to this!

  125. William Moorhouse says:

On Oct.6, 2010 my ATT phone bill has an unauthorized charge of 14.95 from HBS Billing for EPROTECTID.COM, LLC# phone 877-376-6505. I talked to Armando who has promised to cancel the service and credit my account. I will now call ATT and ask them to block all third party charges on my bill as I see another respondent, above, has done.

  126. Kim Lewis says:

I opened my bill today & found a charge for $14.96 for “Streaming Flix Monthly Fee”, I called 1-800-811-4535 & spoke with Allison. She gave me same story as above – that I requested it on the Internet & they sent me 2 confirmation letters via Email. I told her I never requested anything & never recieved any Email from them. She removed the charge, gave me a Cancellation# & said she would add a block so it wont happen again…we’ll see….Now we’re off to the Attorney General!!!

  127. Cari Machado says:

This is just ridiculous! My husband and I just noticed these charges from three seperate companies we have never heard of! It may not be 20/20 as someone said in their post, but Im taking these complaints to local new station. It has to stop, maybe going public thru media will help? I don’t know, but it’s worth a try because I won’t just bend over every month for these S.O.B’s!!

  128. Elizabeth Bass says:

See #113. I sent strongly worded registered letters to Uvolve, HBS and the FCC. Two days later I received an email from Uvolve indicating that it had been cancelled. It has been almost three months and no more charges. But I’m still vigilant with my phone company bills.

  129. mar lang says:

well they did it again they back charged me for aug 29.95 instead of the 14.95 witch I never ordered+ another 29.95 for sept. we need a lawyer to do a class action suit against both of these companies. would someone out there please help!!!!

  130. Elizabeth Hankins says:

Earlier this year, I had a cramming issue which took a whole day to resolve. At that time Verizon was supposed to put a 3rd party block on my account. Now I have found charges of $14.95 on my bill for HBS billing and Streaming Fix. I called and cancelled the service and was given the same old story about how I signed up for it on the internet. The good part is how I was told that I was the first person to ever complain. Meanwhile, I just subtracted the charges from my Verizon bill.

  131. Elizabeth Clark says:

Is there still an open case against this company? I am a recent victim. I received an email from them ‘welcoming me’…I immediately canceled, telling them I did NOT sign up for any such service. They now claim that they can’t stop the billing, but will issue a credit. We’ll see.

  132. Manuel says:

I WAS IT ON MY att BILLON JULY FOR $14.95 CONTCTED COMPANY ASSURED CREDIT WOULD BE ISSUED STILL WAITING.

  133. George Wilson says:

Today I received my Century Link phone bill, to find an extra charge of $14.95 for some streaming flix. I contacted the number on my bill to get assured by Amanda that I did request this service and was contacted by e-mail . I did not ask for this service and requested that it be removed from my bill. I was given the run around and after a lenghtly conversation, was assured it would be blocked and credit issued. DOUBT IT. Going to have my local service removed it this is not taken off my bill.

  134. ray says:

i just found out about hbs and imediately looked it up and found this web site. as i was reading everyones problems i got mad so i have decided to further investigate with att and if no response i will take this to the better business bureu,i suggest you all do the same, i mean this sounds like a scam that is going on in the company and they just say ” oh well block it” its enfuriating and i will not stand for it, i figure if we all go with same complaint to the BBB we can really make a bigger difference.
ps thanks for this web site it comes in handy

  135. KTScarlett says:

I also had fraudulent charges on my phone bill from bothHBS & Streaming-Flix,llc. After many days of geiing to the riit of the chrges, I was finally told today, by an employee of Billview that actually, it is “Streaming-Flix llc” that does ALL the [fraudulent -told me I had ordered thru a website, total BS!]He also gave me the phone # for Streaming-Flix llc,and I called & spoke w/ a CS rep., who also attempted to say I was the reason for all charges! However, using my “charm”.translate to threats of legal action, she conceded and agreed to reimburse ALL the fraudulent charges on my Verizon bill….
And, for those w/ same problem, here is the necessary phone 3 for Stream-Flix, 1-[877] 768-3693. Best of luck to all! And, I also gained some very impt. advice from my bank – Anyone can sign an official notice that specifically will not honor any type of “questionable wire[less] deduction from any acct, you have at that bank. Wish I’d known sooner because the fiest fraudulent event almost cleaned me out! Thankfully, the crooked scammers were located & PROSECUTED!! And, my money was returned! So, good luck to all, and please remember, trying to locate the origins of the fraud does take much time & a determination to “catch the crooks”! Oh, and I am also contacting the proper authorities & notifying them about BOTH fraudulent groups! Score one for the “little guy”!!

  137. Kim Peveto says:

I recieved my bill from At&t and saw the charge and I am outraged that At&t can charge for service of something and not be able to give information about it! I called the HBS company and what SCAM!!! I never signed up for the identity protection!!! They did refund my money, but how many people ecspecially elderly people or people who don’t pay attention to their bills are BEING RIPPED OFF! When is our government or AT&T going to put a stop to this apparently ligit scam????

  138. Mary says:

Consumers — Report your complaints to the Public Utilities Commission in your state. The PUC takes a strong hand to Communication/Cable companies when customer service is below standards.

The Telcoms should suit up with the fraud billers and leave John Q Public customers out of it.

Give the credit Telcoms & Deal with it.

  139. Clint says:

Nver saw this name mention however we jsut got hit with a $14.95 charge for Uvolve University. Billed by HBS. I called Uvolve they sadi it was some on line University fro software computers and they mentioned Micro Soft. We never signed up for this serice and they ae claiming they will cancel it but I cannot get a refund. THye did give me a confirmation number but looking at all the others on here I am not holding my beath expecting it to go away. The man I spoek both at Century Link and Uvole University was difficult to uderstand. Time will tell if they cancel it or not.We received nothing in the mail or by email regarding them. It would be nice if I am to be taking classes from they would at least send me the material to study or how else am I going to get my degree. And I was looking forward to hanging the diploma on the wall I am short paying my phone bill by the $14.95 and I already told Century Link since it was an unauthorized charge

  140. Judy Nduati says:

Enhanced Billing Services, United Tel Company, ILD Teleservices billed me in October, November, December and January of 2009. I complained to AT&T who got my money refunded back and I contacted these companies and demanded they cease billing me. It was a nightmare trying to convince them I never asked for enhanced voicemail. Apparently my sister signed up for their services online and she denies it. I believe her. I suspect that they slip in their services in the fine print of something else you are purchasing or agreeing to and that is how they get a hold of your phone number. Anyway the nightmare continued this year again in September, October, November and December they billed me 14.95. I just spent an hour with AT&T on the phone fixing this and I am completely disgusted that anyone can get away with such fraudulent behavior. I am dumbfounded that there has not been a class action lawsuit against these scumbags.

  141. Victoria Hensley says:

i received emails of confirmations that i did not authorize from this very same company…haven’t received my phone bill yet…afraid to see what these people have done to that now that i got these emails from them..where are they coming from? This has to stop

  142. Julie Trapp says:

I received my Verizon bill with a monthly fee for UVOLVE. I have never heard of it. When I called 1-877-277-6385 like the phone company said to, the young man gave a gibberish explanation for what it was. I think it was something about going to school on line. Not a chance I would sign up for that. I have received nothing in the mail or on line. He offered to fax me my so-called sign-up. I am still waiting for it. He blocked further access to the site for the future, but would not credit my account for the monthly fee I didn’t sign up for. He said they e-mailed me a confirmation and I could have un-signed up for it, I received NO e-maial from them and if i did, I don’t open anything in my junk mailbox if I do not recognize the full name of the sender. What a rip off. I have to call about these extra charges every 2-3 months for things I never signed up for. This is such a scam.

  143. VolvoDave says:

Success!!! The company doing this, Alternate Billing Corporation, is being investigated by the FBI.

Here’s the press release from the FBI Website:
    http://www.fbi.gov/news/pressrel/press-releases/billing_121610

Note: If you were a victim, you need to get a hold of the FBI as soon as possible.

  144. A Muller says:

I cancelled my AT&T home service last month and today received a monthly statement from Nov 11 through Dec 10, 2010. Everything was up to date and I was in fact receiving a credit on my last month of service for a sum of $19.56. Yet, this company “HBS Billing Services” was listed on the bill for a $15 charge for “AT&T Support Plus Monthly Service”. I called the number DIRECTLY below the charge that specifically states: “Billing question? Call 1-888-354-1260″ and after sitting on hold with India for ~5 minutes, I am connected to a woman who has no idea what I’m speaking of. She then “connects” me to a billing department where I sit on hold for another 2-3 minutes to then just get a recording stating for me to call back during “regular business hours”. Why on earth did I need to stay on hold just to be connected to a recording to tell me to call back? AGRRRRH.

  147. Mary Judge says:

I received my Jan. 2011 phone bill with $14.95 add to my account. This is he second time in two months I’ve been billed for unauthorized phone charges. Called HBS billing service they are crediting my account. What a scam!!!! I’ll report this to the BBB. I really don’t know what good it will do. Change the name of the website and they are right back in business. thank-you for your time.

  148. David Shappell says:

I noticed “other chagres” on my phone bill this month in the amount of $14.95 for “Streaming Flix Natl LAMPOON VIP member”. The bill says New Service Provider This Month. What the hell is that? I Google them and the first site I find is this one, nice. After a little more poking around it is clear I,ve been scammed. Ok, I pay my phone bill less the new charge, file a complaint with the Indiana Attorney’s office and leave a note here. Wish me luck.

  156. Julie Brooks says:

On March 18 we purchased a PC laptop so my wife could work from home taking care a very sick dog while there. We currently own a Mac that works just fine, but in order to log on her work server, a PC was required. We contacted ATT after not being able to connect to the internet.

They instructed us that the problem was with the laptop and we needed to contact the ATT Computer support. Calling them, after being on hold for about 45 minuted before even speaking to a live person, they told us there would be a $15 dollar charge for the call. We thought that was reasonable to get the computer working and in the importance of our dog’s well being. After a lengthy conversation, ATT Support said the problem was with a firewall and we should go back to contacting ATT Customer service to get the problem solved.

My wife took her computer to work the following day, and was able to log on using her works internet access, thus telling us the problem is indeed with the internet. We saw the $15 dollar charge on our next bill….actually $16.24 with everything added on. We called ATT Customer Service to have the charge removed since they did not help us at all and didn’t seem to need them since it seemed to be a firewall problem. ATT said we would have to contact the ATT Support and get the charged removed. Calling them and remaining on hold for over an hour and a half to speak to someone in charge to get the charge removed from our account, we gave up and decided just to pay the fee and be done with it, after all our time is worth something.

Fast forward to July phone bill. First off shame on us for not noticing the bill sooner. Between my wife and I swapping off paying the phone bill, no neither of us noticed that we were being charged the $16.24 a month. Again, calling ATT customer service, they said we would need to call ATT Support to deal with the problem. ATT Support for some reason bills through HBS Billing service by the way. Calling ATT Support on July 19, 2011, I was on the phone for an hour and a half with them explaining the situation. I was told that when we called in March we agreed to sign a year contract for this monthly charge. I asked for them to play me the recording where I verified this service was ordered and they could not produce any recording. They told me it would be $90 to cancel the service, $10 for every month left on our contract.

After that, I called ATT Customer Service back and they instructed me that a company does not need voice verification, or a recorded statement saying you agree to a year contract. Kind of sounded odd to me since any other company will want a recorded statement making sure you agree to what you are signing up for. I have since looked up HBS and you can find all sorts of blogs where people have incidents where they are being billed for services that were never ordered and several websites with talk about a class action lawsuit. I know HBS is a billing service, but ATT collects the money. I find it very frustrating that ATT can charge you on behalf of another company saying you signed up for services, with no proof as to whether you did or not. When you call ATT about such charges, they can wash their hands of it and just tell you that you need to contact the company that is charging you.

As you can tell I am not a very happy customer at all, and just wanted to caution all consumers out there to be aware of such things going on through ATT and HBS Billing. I am currently in limbo for two weeks while upper management at ATT SUPPRT decides whether to let me out of the contract with a penalty, never mind getting a refund from the last 4 months. I guess if the results aren’t good after two weeks, if we even hear back from them, it may be time to speak to a lawyer.

I am tired of consumers getting screwed over like this! Beware.
