  4. Maryanne Stewart says:

I am the registered owner of my telephone number. On April 7, 2009 service was ordered through orbit by my daughters name who passed away on Sept 16, 2006. Strange how a deceased person can order anything. I thought the order was placed by her boyfriend until I read the many complaints about this company and Quest. Now I am convinced they were trying to rip me off. I called them just today, so hopefully the matter has been resolved. How can a dead person place an order for anything?

  5. linda skaggs says:

they have been charging me since feb 1 for a voice mail i never asked for or used then they tried to say it was my daughter online that did it this is a scam and now i have to wait for two billing cycle to be credited back the money i never authorized to start with and customer service was very rude when i called and starting asking question i will report to bbb tonight

  6. Charles Lintner says:

We have been charged for 2 months now, but only caught it this month. They claimed my daughter signed up at a site. They are out to scam people for sure hoping they will not see what they are doing until they have gotten as much from you as they can. They need to be run out of business before they take more money from others.

  7. PATTIE HARTMAN says:

  8. Letetia johnson says:

    I found these unauthorized charges.
Called At@t and began my investigation. They insisted I requested this service.I asked them to send me a copy of the request I made .They sent me just my personal info.which I believe they got from phishing.THEY ARE THIEVES AT&T is subscribing to scamming as well. They told me I authorized the voice mail service inresponse to a $500 shopping spree. That’s not me I do no not fall for those offers.

  9. ROLAND R CLARK says:

$14.95 CHARGE APPEARED ON MY QWEST BILL TODAY I CALLED QWEST AND HAD IT CANCELLED . I DID NOT ENROLL IN THIS PROGRAM. SHOULD I DO ANYTHING MORE ?

  10. steve stevens says:

recieved message left on machine thanking me for order, have NEVER ORDERED any kind of voice mail service, have NO IDEA how they got name or info, live by myself I did not order they said would cancel, calling Qwest tomorrow to confirm, and reporting to BBB

  11. Anne W. Johnson says:

Like all the others, charges started being debited from my bank to pay Verizon bill, which included the scam, starting Mar 21. Verizon is refunding to me -

  12. Sandra Colbert says:

I did not sign up with Orbit telecom company. I recieved a message stating that I had. I don’t appreciate that at all. I want to be taken of there company.

  13. Ghery Pettit says:

Caught these clowns on my Qwest bill last night. Called Qwest, told them I would not pay and to block this company from billing me again. Called Orbit and told them that this was unordered and that I wanted it cancelled and a credit issued. The lady on the phone claimed my wife ordered it and did I want the $500 shopping spree cancelled? Of course! My wife did not authorize this. SCAM!

I guess it’s time to file a request for rulemaking with the FCC to change their rules and stop this abuse.

  14. cantrice palmer says:

i didn’t sign up for this shit And didn’t know what it was and i don’t know anything about it. i had to admit to my boyfriend that i had used it because i thought it was something else until i went into further details about what this was and now i know for sure that i haven’t sign up nor have i ever used it in my life. so i would like for this damn company to stop spamming other people and me and trying to make money off of others. i don’t want to have anything to do with this damn company at all. you no good thefting basters. STOP SCAMMING PEOPLE AND MAKE YOUR MONEY THE RIGHT WAY

  15. B. Wilkerson says:

I just rec’d a msg from Orbit (1-800-263-0206) a few minutes ago on my recorder saying ‘thank you for choosing their personal messaging svc!!!’ I did no such thing – I never fall for that crapola – that’s why I didn’t answer the phone. I understand that even if you call them back – they try to manipulate you into saying the word ‘yes’ and then they have your voice recorded saying ‘yes’ and claim to AT&T that you accepted their services! So…I’m going to contact AT&T and tell them what just happened & have them place a no-change order, contact the State Attrny General’s office & the FCC with a letter, and write Orbit a terse letter – send it certified so they have to sign for it with a return receipt. That ought to fix their wagon. Why do I have to spend my time (& $$$)doing this? That is just plain nuts. I’m also going to alert Clark Howard via email.

  17. Random667 says:

    This just happened to me.
I usually just pay my bill with out looking at it.
Turns out i have been paying these people for over a year!
I called and complained, and they said they will refund the money.

  18. Aimee says:

I just noticed I have been paying $14.95 for this service…that I did not sign up for! Is there going to be a class action suit or something that will stop these people from stealing our money???

  19. D.Rusher says:

on July 25,09 I received a paperless bill to my email address for my telephone which was higher than normal. Aftercontacting AT&T I was given a no. for they said ESBI not using ORBit Telecom, which they failed to devulge in my 1st conversation and were reluctant in my 2nd until I pressed the issue. ORBIT charged my credit card $14.95 without my consent and AT&T went along with it. A customer service rep. with AT&T did elude to the fact that this unauthorized billing is a huge problem and they are by federal law forced to adhere to this attached billings per this company. I told AT&T that their complying to an illegal act was against federal law in my opinion and I would be seeking legal advise, I also let ESBI and Orbit Telecom know.

  20. P. Stetz says:

I received a call on 8/0/09 from Orbit Telecom congratulating me on signing up for their service. I had NOT. When I called to cancel the same day, the name and number on the account was correct in their records, but the email address she was going to use to send a confirmation of the cancellation was completely bogus.
They cancelled the service. I’ll have to wait until the next phone bill for the details.

Isn’t there a way to protect us from these types of abuses on our phone bills the same way that there is long-distance slamming protection?

  21. Edward Nelson says:

We just got out phone bill and lo and behold is the charge from Orbit Telecom as everyone else has been mentioning. I called and they said our son signed up for it via the internet which is a lie. He does not live at home nor have a landline. I do not go along with the 72 hour notice as naturally that time limit has expired by the time the phone bill comes. I’ve called and complained but of course only the next bill will show whether this worked or not. AT&T should be ashamed that their customers have to deal with this.

  22. E. Gonzales says:

Opened the phone bill to find it higher than usual. As expected, Orbit Telecom claimed my wife signed up for the service online. She would not make adjustments to our account without talking to me about it first. I asked them to terminate the service immediately to which the rep. inquired if I wanted to cancel the service even though I had won a $500 shopping spree. Incredible. What kind of recourse do we as consumers have to these scams?

  23. Linh Huynh says:

On my mom phone bill for July/2009 from Qwest Phone bill, there are charges $14.95 on June 29,2009 from ESBI (Orbit Telecom) company for the service charges that my mom is unaware of. I called ESBI (Orbit Telecom) company and they said that a person named Ashley has called in to add service for my mom, I said that I don’t know anything about Ashley and they agreed to credit $14.95 back. How can we stop this company scamming people.

  24. Diane D says:

14.95 charged to my local phone bill dated August 7, 2009…never ordered anything, anywhere. Of course they say I did and there is a $500 shopping spree involved, “don’t you want to re-consider?” The surprising thing about this is that August 7, 2008 the same thing happened to me from a different company! This should be illegal!

  25. Cynthia Bowman says:

When you go to LocalJobStation.com it has you complete your name, address and phone number and when you click submit it takes you to another page to complete there is no cancel button only a skip or submit and continue button. They then will charge you $14.95 a month. I backed out and called the company which is really Orbit Telecomm with a frontend web page of LocalJobStation.com. They are prying on unemployed people. You think you are getting into a job bank and instead you are being robbed.

  26. Mark Simpson says:

I believe ATT and other allow this to happen. After I cancelled “the 14.95 service” with Orbit I was too tired to spend another hour discussing with ATT why they are charging me about one more dollar for “new prorated charges” . Every month they add something. In short they are all the same

  27. susan munoz says:

I was also scammed! Same story as above, they say they sent me an email and I confirmed these services, what a load of B.S. When I called to complain, the same thing happend as some of the others, it will take two billing cycles, and they also asked me if I still wanted the $500 shopping spree? Are you kidding me! Quest put a third party billing on my account.

  28. Naomi Carter says:

I was signed up for Orbit Telecom on my Qwest telephone bill. They had all my personal information. Turned out it was not from my I.P. address.
Just yesterday received an e-mail from E-online Services for the same voice mail for $14.95/mo. How can I stop this fraud/identity theft?

  29. Dennis Hoth says:

We noticed this additional charge on our July billing too. We went online to cancel it, but we will also call ATT to let them know too. When we tried to call Orbit, they gave us the run-around and said our son had confirmed the service. We never received any snail mail, email or phone calls about this service.

  30. Naomi Carter says:

I was slammed for several months – was told I signed up online for the services and a $500 shopping spree. I do not give my personal information out When I finally got to the bottom – it was not from my I.P. address – I do know the I.P. address it came from and am trying to get it identified – have filed a complaint with the police internet fraud division. I was also signed up with “E-online Services” – same story.

  31. Kristin Dunlop says:

Just talked with the folks at Verizon who provide our internet/phone/tv services. I have been paying $14.95 monthly since at least May to Orbit Voicemail. Never signed up for it. No idea how the company leeched onto our account. Scam!

  32. billie ellis says:

I was billed 14.95 on my at&t bill without me signing or knowing about orbit telecom. It will be a cold day before they get my money.

  33. Andrew Thompson says:

Orbit Telecom stated that I signed onto their service on May 26th 2009, a service I did not ask for this service and have demanded they refund my money and have notified my phone company. If this fraudulent business states that you ordered a bogus voice mail service be sure to take action immediately before they take you money.

  34. kevin says:

we recieved a phone charge for this scam from orbit… i am sole owner of the phoneline they said a friend of mine signed up for this on my phone number its a big lie and scam

  35. kevin says:

they said someone i knew signed up for this… they NEVER did and why would they be able to when they dont have permission to put stuff on my phone accout. IT IS A LIE

  36. teresa says:

i recieved my phone bill and i had a charge from orbit telecom which i didnt what the hell that was. my brother inlaws girlfriend. used my computer and phone number did not give any kind of permission to my account this is a bunch of crap.

  37. ALICIA says:

I JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH ORBIT TELECOM… I AM SOOO ANGRY. I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD CANCEL MY ACCOUNT AND ISSUE A REFUND CREDIT IN THE NEXT 1 -2 BILLING CYCLES… HAHAHA REALLY? THAT’S 1-2 MONTHS. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? SO I DEMANDED A CHECK AND THEY SAID THEY WILL BE SENDING ME ONE… i ASKED THE MANAGER I SPOKE TO IF I COULD HAVE HER FULL NAME AND HOME PHONE NUMBER SO I COULD CALL HER BACK IF THE CHECK NEVER CAME, BUT SHE DECLINED… MAYBE SHE WAS SCARED I WOULD USE HER INFO AND SET HER UP A VOICEMAIL ACCOUNT… THIS HAS TO BE ILLEGAL SOMEHOW.. I COULD SCAN THE PHONE BOOK AND SIGN UP JOE SMITH IF I WANTED… ALL I NEED IS THE PHONE NUMBER AND NAME ON THE ACCOUNT… UNBELIEVABLE… I ALSO ASKED THE GIRL HOW SHE SLEPT AT NIGHT KNOWING SHE WAS RIPPING OFF MILLIONS OF INNOCENT PEOPLE. SHE JUST CONTINUED THE SCRIPT. THEN I TOLD HER THAT SHE WAS WELCOME FOR ME PAYING HER SALARY… SHE SAID THANK YOU THEN WENT BACK TO THE SCRIPT.. HAHAHA WHAT AN IDIOT… iF I DO NOT GET MY CHECK THEY PROMISED ME IN 10-12 DAYS I WILL DEFINITELY BE FILING COMPLAINTS WHEREVER I CAN… I MIGHT MAKE FLYERS AND STICK ON CARS.. SOMETHING TO WARN PEOPLE…

  38. Gloria says:

I didn’t know anything about this until it showed up on my home phone bill in May,09. I called and canceled and was refunded the $14.95 I was charged for that month. Then in June I was being charged the same price again but by a different company. They have charged me every month since and I have called several times a month to cancel. But this is what I found out. Orbit Telecom, the first company, and Intelicom Messaging, the company that is charging me now, both have the same address for their corporate office: 701 N Green Valley Parkway Suite 200
    Henderson, NV 89074.
They have told me that they are not the same company, but all leads I have found lead to both companies. I have yet to resolve this issue with the new company.

  39. Gloria says:

Also, I don’t know about other phone companies, but I have At&T, and they do have a block you can have put on your phone so that this can’t happen again, but you have to ask for it. They do not divulge this information when you call them to complain about this happening to you.

  40. Titus Oyeyemi says:

Orbit Telecom must have billing me for a long time without realizing it. Only God knows how much this dubious organization has siphoned from me through the Enhanced services billing of AT & T. I don’t remember ever receiving an email from Orbit Telecom or ever asking for their services. May be their email was one of several unwarranted emails that end up in my spam account and which I deleted without opening. So, if you don’t respond to their email by rejecting their email offer, they take your silence to mean consent. I will review my telephone bills and take steps to recover all the money that Orbit Telecom might have taken from me.

  41. Julia King says:

I have been getting billed on my AT&T account and didnt know why. I found out by this website that I am among the same as many. My boyfriend was aplying for a job and was redirected to a skip or continue page. What a crap deal. you think your signing up for a job and your being signed up to have money taken from you.

  42. Roger Goudy says:

I was charged $14.95 by Orbital telecom on my AT&T bill. I never authorized this charge. AT&T said they would give me a credit but they could not block future charges. I called Orbital Telecom and they said they would cancel my subscription and that someone named Lila H.Ishcumaba had subscribed me. I have never heard of Lila. I will file complaints with the Kansas Attorney General against Orbital Telecom, Lila H. Ishcumaba, and AT&T.

  43. mary sapper says:

Orbit has been billing my AT&T accout for 6 moths without my authorization for a total of $96.42. I have to wait 2 billing cycle to get this money back.
    What a scam!!

  44. Annie says:

Orbit charged me two months service for something I had never ordered or wanted. This was over a year ago. I live so far up in the sticks such voice over service would never work here anyway. The billing showed up on my Qwest bill. When I called Orbit to complain they couldn’t tell me when the service was ordered or under who’s name it was ordered. Here’s the crappy part. They stopped “service” and mailed me a check for $14.95 then charged me for two months additional service (29.90) after I had cancelled. This was over a year ago. I called Qwest and told them I refused to make any kind of payment on this part of my bill and they assured me my phone service would not be cancelled for refusing to pay Orbit as they are independent of my Qwest service. Orbit didn’t send a large enough check to cover all the bill so I was basically stuck with the balance. It wasn’t a big deal because I was just ignoring it, until a couple of months ago when I decided to cancel my Qwest landline and just use my cell phone for all calls. Qwest sent me a final bill which I paid. Then a second bill came from Qwest and, you guessed it, the Orbit portion of the bill is still on there and Qwest said it will send the bill into collections if I don’t pay. Qwest told me they have no control over second party billing and they billed me because Orbit told them I still owed an outstanding balance. It’s kind of a double standard that Qwest says Orbit is independent from them but at the same time seems to assist Orbit in collecting money on bogus bills. Makes me wonder what Qwest is really getting out of the deal. I have never had a late bill in all my 50 years on this planet and to think a company I never ordered service from can ruin my credit makes me sick. How do I get these parasites to admit they charged me fradulently and remove the bill?

  45. Russell says:

Looks like many of us were crammed. That’s the term the FTC used to explain what Orbit does. Initially, I contact the Federal Communications Commission, but they indicated that Orbit is a non-carrier, i.e. AT&T or etc. Therefore, they referred me to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) who is responsible for these types of issues. They indicated to me that if there are others in this situation, then they should contact the FTC, either through their website at FTC.gov or their toll free number and file the compliant. Once they receive enough complaints to validate an issue, they will have the lawyers begin the necessary actions to proceed with an investigation. In addition, you can go online with AT&T and check back to the past three years to see when the charges occured. I found out they started charging me back in June 2008. They owe me a lot of money!

PLEASE REPORT EACH OF YOUR CASES – THIS IS HOW WE WILL RECEIVE RESTITUTION FROM THIS COMPANY.

  46. James Haverstick says:

I have had this 44.85 on my phone bill for several months and have only just caught it. I did not authorize these charges.

  47. Cullen says:

Also had Orbit Telecom charges on my Verizon account for 3 months, even though I called and had it canceled after 2 months. Person who wrongly authorized this on my account was named “John Carol”. Called the billing # 800-263-0206 and spoke with someone at the Philippines call center. She said that they had an online marketing campaign where the people solicited could sign up for their service by simply entering their phone number. She said that “Mr. Carol” must have entered the wrong number (my number) and it charged me. Hmmm., maybe they should screen their sign up process a little better. Anyway, I closed my Verizon account (land line) and they gave me a little hassle because this is a 3rd party account… Anyway, advice to anyone, call the number listed above and Orbit should credit you the charges. I would like to see this company scolded though for their practices.

  48. Janet says:

Also scammed by Orbit. Same story – lady in the Philippines said she will credit me but no credit last month and the charge appeared again this month. How do I complain to the FCC?

  49. Duane Stanek says:

Another Orbit Scam…Shame on me We have been billed since May 2009 thinking it was part of the AT&T package. We are going to contact the FCC, South Carolina Consumer Fraud Division and AT&T Legal and Consumer Relations. Thes folks need to be out of business

  50. Barbara says:

Told by Orbit that they were taking over my telephone line as my then provider had not paid them. I told then not to as I intended to go to BT so that my Phone and broadband were together. I then signed up with BT. My contract with then started 10 days ago and I received a call yesterday to say my contract with them had been cancelled by ORBIT. Needless to say I am absolutely furious, how dare they. I am definitely making an official complaint.

  51. Thelton Hughes says:

Me and the wife are trying to cut back on spending so we checked our phone bill. We noticed this $14.95 charge for a Orbit Telecom voicemail that we did NOT set up. I called and had it cancelled. After doing some research, I NEVER got an email confirming set up of the voicemail. This is not over.

  52. Richard says:

They have been adding their $14.95 charge to my bill for a long time but I just noticed. I had automatic bill pay. I called the company and asked for the information on the authorization and they had a phony birtdate and phony email for the person who authorized the charge. How do we get justice?
