Unauthorized addition of $15.74 to billing & this will not be paid.

  4. Maureen Lawrence says:

Today I received a phone call from a gentleman who stated he was with the Phone Company and was calling to renew the companies’ yearly FREE publication in the telephone book. He stated that this was just a courtesy call and that the company’s listing in the phonebook needs to be renewed yearly for our number to be listed.
I confirmed with him that this was n fact a FREE service, he confirmed.
He proceeded to explain that he had would have to put me on hold for a brief moment and he would be back on the phone momentarily with another individual from his company that would confirm my FREE listing.
I waited until the gentlemen came back on the line and he explained that all I needed to do was answer a few questions with this automated service. The gentlemen said that he would continue to be on the phone as the automated voice would prompt me to say the name of the company, my name and the companies’ telephone number after the “BEEPS”.
I heard another voice which was a recording, (like he said would) that asked me to state the name of the company “BEEP” : I stated the company name…..
Then the gentlemen who originally called, began to talk in-between the “BEEPS” he would talked over the recorded voice, so all that I could hear or understand was him telling me what to say after the “BEEPS” I could not hear the recorded voice, the gentlemen said to state your telephone # after the “BEEP” I stated my number…..
The gentlemen’s voice proceeded to get louder and louder over the automated voice he then said to say “YES” after the “BEEP” ….
It was very hard to hear the recorded automated voice because the gentlemen voice was too loud and he kept repeating himself over and over to just say “YES” after the “BEEP”.
I finally interrupted him and said that he needed to stop talking during the automated voice, because I did not want to answer YES to something I didn’t understand. He said it was just an advertisement and to just say YES and we will be done with the phone call.
I would not comply and finally he hung up on me, however, I did have a chance to hear the automated voice, which said “ to answer YES if I understood that in 14 days from today I will be billed a 39.95 fee on my phone bill for this monthly service!!!

  5. Debbie Hoyer says:

I was charged 7.38 from The Billing Resource on my AT&T bill for a collect call that was supposedly accepted from my number. However, on the date in question I was out of the state with NO ONE else having a key to my place, and to top it off, I don’t even have a phone hooked up in my house! I only use the line so I have the internet! I called & they claimed they will credit my AT&T bill in 1-2 billing cycles, but I’d be shocked to see that. Looks like my payment will be minus the 7.38 amount. I know it’s not much, but it’s the principle! Scammers!

  6. Larry Sluder says:

Received phone bill today noticed a charge for 21.25 (tax incl) for Talent and More billed thru The Billing Resource. Called Talent and More, they said I signed up through s web site. NEVER HAPPENED. Told them to cancel they said they will issue a credit. WE WILL SEE. Also called The Billing Resource and AT&T, neither will take responsibility, they are middle men etc. Putting a third party block on my AT&T Line. If I’m billed again I guess I’ll take it out on AT&T and Cancel

  7. Laura Kabel says:

Today when I went to pay my ATT bill, I found the usual charges for
phone service, and two new charges from a third party called TALENT AND
MORE, LLC. I was charged 19.95 twice for two months of “service” that I
had never asked for, never received and until today wasn’t even aware of.

So I Googled TALENT AND MORE, LLC, and… try that yourselves, folks!

Apparently they are scamming people all over the country.

I got the charges removed from my phone bill, by calling ATT customer
service, and after a few niceties, asking to speak with a supervisor.

  8. sd spa says:

They have been charging $84.90 to my At&t phone bill since Feb 2007. Since i had my phone bill set to auto pay we did not notice the charges. just recently I had time to look at the previous statements, and saw the charges. called the billing resource and they told I had to contact a seperate company for some of the charges. And some of the other charges They will refund for me. They had overcharged the Att account for over $2,214.00 over a 2 and half years. And they offered to refund $175.00 for NETOPUS.NET the first time I called. They proceeded to tell me to fax over the other Att statements for them to review and they will call me back. Did not receive a call so I called them back the next day asked about it and they put me on hold and said they could refund $200.00 and it will show up in 1-2 billing cycles. When I wanted a full refund for the unauthorized charges. they told me they will call me back by the end of the day. Still not received a call. And the other company USABD that charged my account through the billing resource. would not refund any of the fraudulent charges. I requested proof of the agreement to the charges and they said they will email me. in 24 hrs. Still have not recieved their email either. I will file a dispute with amex regarding the charges on that card. And have contacted Att, The Billing Resource, and USABD have not been helped. only to be given the run around. and Unhelpful “account managers” telling me they will call me back.

  9. Donna Smith says:

I too just received an unauthorized charge from “the billing resource” form vmail setup fee. We never authorized anything from those bozos. What a scam! I’ve contacted our state attorney general – it’s time to put them out of business.

  10. Marcia says:

I’m a representative for a telephone company. I receive at least three phone calls per day concerning this company. As far as I have been able to tell, they are a scam. The only thing I am able to recommend is adding a third party billing block to your telephone accounts. This is not something that most telephone companies flat out offer, but more of an honor if requested, (usually after something like this happens). There is no charge to do this. The third party billing block or “drop non pic charge” is completely separate from a non published-non listed telephone number. Until this block is added to a customer’s account, the telephone company is not able to decline charges that are presented from a third party company. These charges are not something the telephone companies are able to credit back to their customers, as they have already paid the third party companies. However, they are able to request that the charges be recoursed back to the billing companies.

  11. Laura Kabel says:

OK, another charge from these THIEVES appeared on my ATT phone bill, and again I called to protest and have the charge reverted. I was told there was no way they could prevent the scammers from trying to bill me in the future. So I am leaving ATT for another company.

  12. Teddi Berger says:

Unauthorized charge of $8.43 by The Billing Resource. Cannot communicate with them to resolve the situation.

  13. M.C. Amendola says:

An unauthorized charge of 19.95 appeared on my at&t bill last month. I called The Billing Resource and after a song and dance, was told the charge would be canceled and was given a cancellation number. The same charge appeared this month. I believe The Billing Resource, by purporting to collect charges from third parties, is acting as a debt collector and is subject to the provisions of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

  14. Loi ha says:

I was charged for a service, also from the billing resource. It was billed on behalf of mybillingservices, INC.

I called to get it canceled, but they charged me once again for a setup fee that never even happened.

  15. mln says:

I got one from the billing resources in the month of august 2009, in the amount of $20.95 i already called my phone company (verizon) to block it and also i called their support (TBR) to cancel that unauthorized service. They gave me a confirmation number and said that it would take up to 2 billing cycles to be removed completely. That’s totally lame how easily they do sh*t like that to us.

  16. jackie says:

Same as everyone else.I noticed an increase in my at&t bill and the charge was from the billing resource center for enhanced voice mail.I asked when and how I supposedly signed up for this service and was told that she didn’t have that info, but it was through a web site but name of site not known.Said the service will be cancelled and would block any further charges. Will wait and see.

  17. Doug Hazlewood says:

We got the same bogus Vmail charge on our latest bill for $8.43. What a scam! They even gave it a separate page on the bill. There should be a special place in you-know-where for the folks behind this!

  18. Paula says:

I have had this same problem twice, through 2 “separate” companies. I had erroneous charges on my ATT bill from OAN in 04/2009 & 05/2009. I got both months credited through OAN, no problem, but now I’m getting more of this voice mail charge through another company for a lesser monthly charge, “Billing Resource” aka “My Billing Services, Inc”. Those charges for 08/2009 and 09/2009 have been credited by the folks at mybillingservices and they say they put a block on the billing, but all of this smacks of a scam. I am contacting my state utility commission and/or the attorney general regarding these companies. Since ATT is a nationwide company, I may have to go to the FCC. Continuing complaining to your provider, ATT/Verizon, is important, but this needs to go to a higher level. If anyone knows of a class action lawsuit on these Add-On Voicemail service companies, I would like to be a part of that. I will continue to watch my monthly bill like a hawk. These companies prey upon customers who don’t know what they are being charged for.

  19. Greg says:

Enhanced voice mail charges started appearing on my ATT bill from the Billing Resource. I went to their site and filled out an online form to complain, but the form could not be submitted due to an “unspecified error.” It looks like they have stolen about $300 or more from me. This is not encouraging!!

  20. Tami Morse McGill says:

Got a voice message from something called “CallMeConnect” asking us to verify our order. Neither my husband or I had ever heard of it, so we assumed it was phishing and deleted it. A month later we get a bogus $15 charge on our Qwest bill. Called their 800 number to cancel; the voice message system never identifies the company, and surprise surprise they’re closed and can’t “assist” me. I will be howling to Qwest, TBR, maybe even the FCC come Monday morning!

  21. Jeanne Major says:

Verizon has charged me 9.99 two months in a row for “the billling resource”. I never approved this charge. It adds up to $120/year that I do not want to pay.

  22. Pat says:

Just noticed my bill was higher than normal and I wound up here. $8.43 from THE BILLING RESOURCE for AGORA VOICE MESSAGING. I called AT&T, they said they would knock $10 off my bill…wait and see if that happens or if I see more of these bogus charges…

  23. john says:

the billing resource charged me $20.15 and when i called them thy said that i have to pay and there is nothing i can do about it . i say lets all of use together and sue this company and put them out of bissness that my plan

  24. Salil Gandhi says:

I got charged since May of 2009 from The Billing Resource. I called them up, put in queue (#5), waited on hold for 5 minutes, spoke with a gentleman with excellent English, explained my issue. He responded that some company got my email and phone number for some voicemail thing. He said that he had records for 90 days. I explained that I was being charged from May 2009 through today. He spoke to a supervisor and I was refunded the money. I have a confirmation number and was told that the money would be refunded within 2 billing cycles or 60 days.

Overall, their clients may be shady, but it appears to me, that if you are polite and explain the challenge, TBR will do the right thing and give you your money back. This is obviously assuming that they refund my money within 60 days.

  25. Debby Lyons says:

Billed erroneously by this company on my phone bill for $17.23 a month for two years. Never authorized. I called to inquire what it was for by calling the number on my phone bill and I got music for over an hour and no one ever picked up. There was not even a recording explaining if anyone ever intended to pick up.

  26. Cheryl says:

I received a check made out to Verizon (who I have closed the account by the way) towards my final bill. It is from the billing resource. It says to submit it with my bill and they will pay a portion of it? Has anyone else gotten this? Should I use it?

  27. Christi says:

I noticed a charge on my Windstream bill for “THE BILLING RESOURCE Direct Dialed Calls Billed on Behalf of PREMIUM LONGDISTANCE” in the amount of $18.83. I called Windstream and they gave me the phone number listed above. I got a busy signal! I went to the website of Premium Long Distance to cancel my service through there, and it said my phone number wasn’t listed. What do I do? This is very frustrating.

  28. Dana says:

Hey! i just went thru the same issue, was given the same number 1888-296-8079. which also didnt work at all. I was told to keep trying that their number was just temporarily out of service. this was very stressful because i couldnt afford to have these charges on my next months bill. I have found a solution!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! go online and just google THE BILLING RESOURCE….and then gop to their website. theres two different option, you can complete a inquiry form (which i also filled out), and i was not convinced that this would help me. Theres also a number to call them!!!! the number is 1800-476 7415!!! the people explained exactly how these charges were made (someone filling out a survey for free groceries)..who happened to be my step son who is 12. He enetered his birthday in wrong therefore making him over 18! Then he entered my phone number, which thus subscribed my telephone number! They gladly corrected the problem and gave me a confirmation number!! I hope i could be of help to you guys as wel….

  29. Tara Murray says:

We had two charges, one for $9.02 and one for $8.31. Contesting with the phone company.

  30. Julie says:

Today I noticed a line item for “The Billing Resource” on my local bill for $18.53. I went back to last month’s bill, and there was a line item for $20.24, which I have already paid.

When I called the number Dana lists above, I was told that I filled out an online order form for long distance service (which I already have through my local company), with an incorrect date of birth and an e-mail account that I do not control.

I’m told the charges will be reversed in 1-2 billing cycles. I will not be paying any more than the $20.24 I already paid, however.

  31. Amanda Dishaw says:

This is bullshit..charged to my phone bill…without my authorization….how can this company keep this fraudulent procedure going??

  32. Amanda Dishaw says:

There is no contact information to get in contact with this so called “The Billing Resource Company” also known as Brilliant Digital Entertainment???

  33. Cynthia Gentry says:

Charged 18.83 for July, 17.23 for August and 17.23 for September

  34. Cynthia Gentry says:

I was charged for 3 months services that I never ordered or authorized.

  35. Conley Day says:

Same thing. My September and October Verizon bills included $9.05 twice for “Other” charge that I did not request or authorize. Verizon has said they will remove the charges from my bill but that does not prohibit this scamming operation, The Billing Resource, from pursuing me with a collections agency. Why are third parties allowed to attach charges to our phone bills?
